Cherokee. Anyone ever go?

Ugh! When I land in a week from now, my parents are picking me up and we're going to go over and spend the night there. Blackjack, at least?

I think there are a few tables for blackjack, but most of it is video poker and video slots. Not impressed at all.

Do yourself a favor and drive over to Maggie Valley and eat breakfast at Joeys Pancake House.

i went this past weekend and while it was nothing special, i enjoyed it. at the same time it was the first time i've ever been to a casino. everything was video that i saw but there was a poker "area" in the back so i'm not sure how it was set up. alcohol is supposed to start in roughly 3 weeks.

Its all video. No real cards. Not any that I saw anyway. You'll come away being able to say you've been to a casino, but that's about it.

hate that place. Unrelated but did anyone see the new high school they're building up there for all the indians? Nuts... The football field had the nicest grass I've ever seen, and there were about 7 or 8 3 story buildings. Guess that's what happens when you don't have to pay taxes..

cherokee is horrible. do yourself a favor and just go play bingo over there. at least you have a chance to win something that way.

It feels pretty lame, especially if you've been to Vegas. The smoke would choke a duck, but they've got one room in the back that's smoke free.

What really bothers me is seeing (I'm gonna sound awful when I say this but I'm really a nice person) all the poor, elderly, disabled, and otherwise disadvantaged people in there trying to win money.

My husband and I have been a few times, and enjoy the drive more than anything else.

I will be there next Wednesday night. It is too late to tell my parents I don't think I want to go there. They have probably already reserved the rooms. Oh well, I guess I will just have to grin and bear it. There's always video poker, I guess.

play the blackjack tables if you want a fair chance of winning. its not live cards, but you stand a better chance for sure.

Don't know if they still do but they use to hav e a couple of video craps tables that were big enough for about 6 people to play at same time. You might check those out. They are about the only thing remotely entertaining there, but I don't care for blackjack or slots and poker is more fun with real people.

I've been three times. Nothing special, although I do appreciate the no-smoking section.

My first trip there they didn't have the no-smoking section, and there were 100 chain smoking blue hairs in there.

My wife and I took $500 and played Double Diamonds. There was an entire row of empty machine. We sat down at two of them. An hour later, we were sans $500. However, a blue hair sat down beside my wife, smoking about 7 cigarettes at once. She cashed out for almost $10k. I still hate her to this day.
