That the QB position needs to be smart.

I guess thats the final nail in the coffin for Crompton.

Lets not start on Crompton already.
I saw some practice highlights today and he was hitting the receivers(to bad its March)

Lets wait and see how he plays in the new system. No need in bashing him on here all the time.

I think all QB's have to be smart.. unless they run a spread option then they only have one choice. pitch or not to pitch.

Where did you find highlights? Im pumped for this spring and Im also really glad the press can finally watch practice instead of going off of Fulmers word that the guys are "workin like heck"

I am not giving up on Crompton. He knows he has a lot to prove after last year and for that reason he will work his but off to earn the starting job. Not saying he will be the starter, but he will work hard to try and earn it.

From what I heard last season, Crompton is a God on the practice field, he just can't translate his skills to game time. Unless he gets rid of the kookoo bird flying around upstairs when game time comes, we are better off with NS or BJC

Is there a place to view the practice highlights online for those of us stuck in Dawgland?

Ainge was absolutely crap and Cut turned him around. I'm going to lay off the Crompton jokes (for the most part) until I see how he does with new coaches and a new system. Hopefully they'll also teach him how to take responsibility for his actions/play.

I recall hearing the same. The difference is that he didn't get hit in practice last year. That's about to change. One thing I'll say about JC, I saw him take some huge hits and pop up ready for more. He may be tougher than we give him credit for.

We'll never know if his practice was good or if that was coach speak due to the closed practices. This all will know if that's the case or not.

Well ...not one of the three QBS played with a great deal of success . They all had their moments ...but all 3 had some very bad moments too.

The Clawfence was awful ...it would take several years for kids to understand that . It is hard to blame Clawson alone ...rumor and reading between the lines leads me to believe that Phil dumbed the offense down so much that he contributed to it's disfunction and made it into some hybrid of his old offense .

In any case ..I reserve judgement on JC until he is given a fair shot in a system that is not doomed from the start .

I've made this post several times and am sticking to it 'til proved wrong. I read some months ago on VN that Kiffin recruited Crompton while at USC. Since no QB's were chased after during recruitment I can only arrive at the assumption that the new coach knows what he's doing. Personally I want Stephens but since MH didn't hire me I'll let Kiffin run the show. All I really know is this --GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I slammed Crompton with the best of them last year but New staff and new year. I am willing to reserve judgment till I see the results this year.

And they played much better?

I think we just need a QB to manage the game and not lose it

Half of the schools in the country recruited Crompton. That has zero to do with whether or not he is capable of getting the job done next year.

Crompton was a good practice qb last year. When the lights came on his didn't. Truth is, i won't be confident in crompton until he at least can redeem himself for that debacle in LA. Beat UCLA and don't get humilitated in the sewer, uh i mean swamp, then and only then will i give crompton the benefit of the doubt. What happens in between now and then with crompton won't convince me much. I'll be more interested in how coleman looks in the spring than crompton.
