i've never had a decent mexican meal north of santa cruz or east of the rockies (with the exception of texas I suppose).

They're out there, you just need to know where to look. They won't be on Citysearch, or well-known joints.

That said, my favorite Mexican spot ever is a place just off the strand in Hermosa owned by one of the members of Pennywise... The name escapes me right now, though.
