Checkering Neyland this year???

Haven't seen any talk about it this year.
I know for the Florida game everyone is supposed to bring a shaker.
I kind of hope they don't do it for Bama.
They bring too many fans. So, it would probably look more speckled than checkered.
Maybe Missouri or Kentucky, even though it might be cold.
Do most people own a white or orange jacket?

I expect Neyland to be 90% Big Orange when Alabama comes to town.

Neyland checkered looks totally AWESOME!

There's no silly jinx to it either.

That's like saying Orange is a jinx color for us, LMAO!

I think the players like it and the recruits should love to see that become a new, serious tradition like OU and other schools like Penn State have.

Checker and all Orange out Neyland would be good traditions.

I'd love to see Neyland checkered when we beat floriDUHHH.

Just stay classy and do NOT tear the goalposts down for them Gators.

Act like we used to act, like we always expected to WIN.

Would it be disrespectful to checker Vandy in Nashville? A little pre-SEC championship celebration?

Some said it would be, but....well, it IS Vandy. In fact, I saw a diagram of their stadium done for it here 2 years ago. Must be in an old thread, unless a mod deleted it.

But it would be easier to just do an orange out there. And if that looks overwhelming, do it two years later. I am sure someone will disagree, but Vuck Fandy.

who decides such things

At most universities it's the marketing / promo folks.

App's big deal used to be Black Saturday on the biggest home game of the season. Now it seems like they try something new all the time, and nothing seems to gain much traction. They've tried striping the stadium and several others. Black Saturday is the only one that seems to work.

Our colors are black and gold. This year we're having a white out when we play ODU ... a white out ... against a team with white as one of their major colors. The marketing folks are saying the players asked for it. I have my doubts. We'll see how the white thing goes.

I'll be in black for the game in Neyland. I'll be looking for y'all to be in orange and white. :)

I like checkering Neyland. Makes for one of the most picturesque views in all of sports. We just need to win next time to keep the superstitious fans happy.

In case you weren't there or outta diapers, you do realize those goalposts went down in world record time against Florida in 98. Check YouTube, you can see it.

If we beat Florida, I seriously doubt your "exceptional leadership prowess" will stop anything. Cops and the National Guard? Maybe. Butch making an appeal? He might want to.

First time a goalpost went down at Neyland? 79 vs Notre Dame. The largest percentage of those who remember how we acted before? Dearly departed, or driving CNAs crazy at the old folks home. Anyone under 45 is wondering what you were talking about.

IMO, we just need to pass the hat to cover the fine. Sooner the better. For Florida or Alabama? I'm not standing in those kid's way. But if you are? I'll be praying for you. Let your family know which is your favorite tie. Just in case.

I like CheckerNeyland and 3rd Down for What? Not sure what "and all that" includes.
Wear orange, get loud and win, I vote yes.

Go Vols!

I like the checkerboard, do not like 3rd Down for What. That's when the crowd needs to b loud, not dancing. The only thing that lost those checkerboarded games, was our offense stopping before the job was done.

Unless something had changed, the shaker thing is absolutely nothing official. Just an oddly conceived gimmick to sell shakers.

I'm done with the checkerboard stadium and 3rd Down For What and all that. Let's just show up in orange, scream like hell, and win.

This and only this. Please!!!!

No more planned gimmics, just freaking win and we will make plenty of noise.

I was part of the first checkerboard neyland and the atmosphere was terrific but the outcome absolutely sucked. No thanks.

I don't like the need for 3rd down for what. If it's needed it's needed. The crowd should be loud from punt to punt. When the crowd gets loud on 1st , 2nd, and 3rd down the song can go away, until then it is an unfortunate need.

Yes, let's make it a yearly tradition or let's make it an all orange. Last game I was at neyland stadium was the Arkansas game. Granted it was raining that day, but there a lot of non orange outfits and mostly black. The pics of the checkerboard of the Florida game the year before look 100 times better in person and on tv.

What kind of shaker am I supposed to bring?

Fried Gator Tail Recipe
Step 1
Mix 1 cup of all-purpose flour in a bowl with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder or other seasonings to taste.

So you bring the salt shaker, and I will bring the Pepper.

:p
