Why don't we take it to the next level and spell a visiting recruit's name.....can you imagine 1/2 the lower deck spelling "Tuttle"?

The striping did look cool in Oklahoma. They said it's something they do for big games.

The best part of it was little orange specks in the middle of every stripe. We had pockets of fans all over the stadium

with good pregame media coverage and access to seating chart color code data I think this could happen.
That would be the best picture for recruiting of that stadium ever. I agree with boca a night game with checkerboard....insane.

Sure it can be done. Back in the 40s, the student was a crd section which spelled out a number of different words/phrases. It looked really good back then and should again.

Do a complete white out with a large power T on east side and the interlocking UT on the west side. Both in Tennessee Orange. That would be original.

would be cool but to many gray hairs at the stadium and if you can't get them to standup and cheer now how are you going to get them out of their suit and fancy dress to put on a T-shirt

If you are lucky you may get to be one of the grays hairs sitting in the stadium one day.

Seems to be gaining traction... I've seen AJ and a couple other players tweeting about this today. If this gets to CBJ and he likes the idea (which he will - it will be awesome for recruiting), I think this will happen.

As far as coordination goes, the News Sentinel would be all over it... "CBJ to Vol Fans: Checkerboard Neyland for UF Game."

I'd love this to be an annual thing.

Ok I have pretty much all the vols followed on Twitter and can't find AJ! I thought I had him followed, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm a longtime Sooners fan (1981 I saw my first OU game) and I can only remember 2 times that they striped the stadium:

2012 vs ND
This weekend vs UT

The first time, there was a ton of pushback from fans. They wanted to wear what THEY wanted to wear, not what the university asked them to. For that reason, the striping for the ND game wasn't as nice as it was this past weekend.

The key is to plan it some ways out... at least 1 month in advance if not more so that it can gain traction and the naysayers have time to change their minds.
