Checkerboard Florida

This just got me giddy! I went to the OK game last year and it was one of the best things I've ever witnessed. It's just one of those things that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Neyland does that to me anyways but it was just a different vibe that game. Nice to know I will get to see 2 streaks end on a single day. Can't wait!

Cowbells! We need to sneak in cowbells - that would do it.

No cowbells! It's Knoxville, not Starkville.

100,000+ firing muskets into the air would be the Volunteer thing to do. Taking a few pot shots at opposing fans would be ok too. :)

How about a Smokey coon dog howl?!?! Would be as big as Rocky Top.

Tired of the superstitious fans here. If we lose to Florida, its going to suck no matter what the stadium looks like. The fanbase will go bezerk regardless. Fire butch will start regardless. SEC east will more than likely be lost regardless.
However, imagine how hype last years Oklahoma game was with the checkerboard. Baker Mayfield said he hasnt seen or heard anything like it. Imagine this energy combined with the hatred of Florida. The atmosphere will electric, and will registers on some richter scales. The nervousness of the 12th loss will turn into one of the greatest wins in UT history. We'll break the streak in the most amazingly photogenic beautiful and redeeming way possible. It will be glorious. General Neyland will smile down from heaven. God himself will sing Rocky Top. The angels will form a nubulous power T on high. Jesus will once again be a beacon shining bright, and the sun the next morning will rise glorious to the sight of a new day where the streak is no more, like the ring thrown into the fires of Mordor. It honestly could be the catalyst to world peace.

TL;DR, don't be superstitious or afraid, let's go beat florida with the checkerboard.

Taken part in this the past 2 years, honestly I'm tired of the gimmicks. I just want to see wins. Never once did the thought cross my mind "well at least the stadium looked nice" while filing out of Neyland realizing we still weren't a good team after UF and OU.

I don't mind it. It only affects what color shirt I wear. I'm neither super excited or mad about it. The people that want it will have fun with it. The people that don't who cares. You have to wear a white shirt instead of orange? Stay home if you're that big of a baby.

It's going to happen, so all you whiners out there may as well suck it up and support our Vols. Anybody wearing the wrong color in my section (C. I don't know which color yet) is going to get an ear full from my group. As for those who're superstitious about losing records due to color traditions: Remember the first time UT wore smokey grays? We lost one we should've won versus UGA. What do y'all think of smokey grays since later successes? A true fan will comply with the majority of his/her fellow fans...except for the me-me-me's whose annoying bickerings always disrupt otherwise festive events. I'm pumped that one of the rare UT games I can fly out to watch is going to be in a checker-boarded Neyland. Let's give the world something to remember when the worm turns on September 24th!

Then wear orange or white. You'll have a 50% chance to be part of something really cool. Wear smokey gray if you want to go total contrarian.

I don't understand why fans say things like just win don't checker neyland. We the fans are checkering the stadium not the players. I guarantee you the players appreciate us doing this for them. They play the games we bring the noise. Stop complaining so much and just do your part.

Do you get the feeling that the same people that don't want the checkerboard are the same people that don't want the gray uniforms. Their argument is usually "we're not gray, we're orange and white". Then when you want to make the stadium orange and white...it's a gimmick.

5 out of 95,000 you won't even be able to tell. For all that are willing to participate thanks. It looks great on TV and it looks great at Neyland. Get loud and cheer our Vols to Victory.

I know I'm in white. Have been the last 2 years. I'm not wearing white again. I'm over the gimmicks. Just win baby!

Maybe it's time they reverse the pattern - it would be nice to let the white sections wear orange and the orange sections wear white.

First the majority did not vote to do this - the poll was a couple of thousand folks (if I remember the tallies correctly). And for me it has nothing to do with superstition - I just prefer the color orange.

There is just nothing more spectacular than seeing a sea of orange at the Vol Walk and inside the stadium.

Let's do that for Bama.
