Nope, I'm not really up on my Texas history. Disapoint I know. I got all my history schooling in TN, so I'm more TN based when it comes to that. I really like history though and would like to read up/ learn on the history of Texas. Have any recommendations on a good book?
It provides an accurate and eye witness account of the actual truths that defies some of the myths about the siege of the Alamo. Written by De La Pena and translated years later. Its in my personal collection.
2nd, a former text book of mine from college. I've read it a dozen times and find something new each time. A must in understanding the personal life of General Sam, his various transgressions, failures, shortcomings, alcoholisim, and eventual political problems.
Looks like they're out of stock, but here's another really good one. It explains the infactuation with oil that we Texans have from its origin. Also, feel free to dedicate 4 hours on a weekend and watch the Film "Giant" starring Rock Hudson and James Dean.
