Cheating Under Rick Barnes

I sent an email to Vol Nation mods and didn't want to post in this thread, but maybe they will see it here since it was last week and nothing has been done about it. Can we block/delete this thread. First it's off topic, second the headline is terrible for current player's families and recruit's families to read it when they look at this message board, and we all know there are some on here. The headline is embarrassing. If people want to compare/contrast Donnie Tyndall and Rick Barnes, start a new thread with that headline.

Butchna would probably reword it if you asked him. He's usually in the football recruiting forum.

I kinda crying when I read it too.

Edit. Lol cringe

No offense, but if you don't like the subject being discussed, then don't read this thread.

No offense taken and no offense given. SO, with that understood ...if you don't like my responses to the discussions then don't read it. It works both ways.

The title is definitely terrible.

Really? Think about why he couldn't shoot any down. It's because he was guilty. Rick Barnes isn't like our last one, in any way.

You're making my point. Review my other posts to see my feelings on the subject. We have a similar opinion.

If Tyndall weren't guilty, he'd still be our coach because his team didn't perform poorly enough to warrant firing him after one season.

Exactly. All reports were the boosters really liked him and wanted him to stay the coach. It was even said if Tyndall's punishment was missing half or most of the season, he still had the support of the admin and boosters.

That doesn't just go away unless Hart was told the punishment was going to be much worse.

Maybe he assumed it was going to be much worse. I don't think it would be legal for the NCAA to tell him anything concrete without telling Tyndall. In reality, at this point we do not know any more about what offense Donnie Tyndall committed than we do Rick Barnes. We only know that both are responsible for the allegations that happened on their watch that occurred after August 1, 2013 whether they had anything to do with them or not. That's where it stands until NCAA reports are released.

I have addressed this repeatedly. Here it is again for your perusal. Dave Hart spoke on Tuesday about how much he was standing by DT. On Wednesday, it was announced that RB was leaving Texas. On Thursday while DT was on a recruiting trip UT officials jumped on a plane and went to NCAA headquarters to find out what they could on DT. Now why this was allowed without informing DT, I have no idea. Evidently they thought they found something they could use to justify terminating his contract. Must have been a doozy discussion because DH said the next morning he got an hour and a half sleep. DT said he was totally blindsided when he was told he was fired on Friday morning. The proof of this is that Rob Gray was on campus for a recruiting trip that day. (Sure could use him now!) So, as in most major corporations, DT is escorted to the door and left to break the news to his family. The NCAA restricts him or the university from opening their mouths until the investigation is complete. The university opened their mouth before the investigation was complete. So here's where we stand, DT says when he is able to speak the s--t will hit the fan and the NCAA continues digging trying to prevent that from happening because they had no idea the intention of UT was to fire DT to hire RB.

There are holes in your timeline. TN fans were twisting in the wind through the entire season. TN fans suffer the wrath of the NCAA practically levying the death penalty on the program because a coach lied about feeding recruits hot dogs while other programs seemed to be guilty of far worse sins and are wrist slapped. Perhaps the NCAA approached TN/Hart and said get on up here and we'll show you the goods on CDT. Perhaps the NCAA knew that they had to punish CDT for continuing to violate rules but understood that TN fans have suffered enough as collateral damage. I really doubt that TN led the charge to get the goods on CDT because they knew that CRB would be available. I don't think that Dave Hart is that intuitive. Nice conspiracy theory though.

SD, as I always say everyone is entitled to an opinion. You even have the right to defend it. But Stop stressing yourself and causing yourself undue strife by going back and forth day in and day out with these guys. You're never gonna see it their way and they're never gonna see it your way. That's just the way it is in VN. I've learned that. Sometimes you just have to walk away from it. Now, that doesn't mean that you gave in or that they wore you down. It just means that you've had your say and you're done with that and moving on.

I appreciate you're concern. Jabari and the team will be fine. They are rough and tough and strong enough to make it through whatever comes their way. Just like last year and the years to come, I'm gonna pray for a successful season no matter what.

Now you just sit back and relax a little. Whatever happens...happens. This type of stuff can and will consume your every thought. So, Keep believing whatever you want to about your favorite coach. No one can take that from you. Just release and let go.

Remember this...
" Life's too short to wear tight shoes." That's an inspirational book written by a friend of mine. Her name is Barbara Faison. Read it if you get a chance.

Keep calm and Be well SD!:salute:

I agree with you Auntie, he should walk away,😀

I started this thread...it's doing fine...you're overreacting. :hi:

Yeah, which is funny considering "common sense" was asked for. I've yet to see any conspiracy theory be best described as "common sense".

@patrickbrownTFP: Barnes on academics stuff: Texas has said what needs to be said regarding his lack of involvement. Says Chronicle story 'had no legs.'

I hadn't read every post and article about this but it is looking to me like this little story is going to pass us right on by.

That's what I said! :) Doesn't seem to matter anymore whether the head guy knew anything about it or not. They are investigating 3 players under the Barnes banner, same as Tyndall, I believe.

Barnes: 'No Legs' to Article

"If you read the article, from my point of view, there's no legs to it," Barnes told reporters Monday in his first public comments on the matter since the report came out. "I think Texas has said everything that needed to be said. I'm sure they'll proceed with whatever they think they have to do there, but it was made clear that I had no involvement in it, which I knew. If I thought there was something, I would address (it). (Because of) the fact it has no legs, I'm not really concerned about it."
