Chaz Coleman status?

Some players have the highly developed work ethic required to be successful in college football. Some do not. Maybe he will flip a switch, but it appears that this guy is nowhere near having it.

3 elite eights is just ok to me with the resources UT has. I think more highly of what the Tennesee Vols athletic department should look like. You cherry picked my post anyways. My post in quotes below...
"More NIL equals more drama and missed practice. Heupel and Barnes can't get it right. Low character or not enough talent for the investment." We paid most NIL to Nico Iamealevya, Coleman from Penn State and Nate Ament. Nico sucked. Coleman has 1 sack and can't practice. Paying 3 million or more for a player who shoots 40% and didn't bring much else to the table is a bad investment in my opinion.
I did not cherry pick your post. You added more Cherry's to the post in the reply. Best to say what you mean vs what you think you intended to say.

Since he came out of the portal, can TN release him back to the portal and some other school pick him up or able to return to his previous team if they'll have him even though the portal has closed and no summer portal?

From what I understand the portal is closed and he’s stuck for this season. However, I think he can unenroll and go back to Ohio and sit on the couch for a year until the portal opens up again. But really, I’m not 100% and with the Wild West that is the ncaa right now anything is possible. No hard feelings but it sucks if he doesn’t work out because 3 spins would’ve gotten us some more depth.

And walk away from $3.5mil? He’ll stay here with his family & see what happens next year.

I don’t think it will happen because you’re exactly right, he’s basically walking from the money and given the drama who knows what his market value would be next season. Just laying out the only option I can think of that he doesn’t play this fall.

Is there not a team psychologist/psychiatrist on staff to evaluate the maturity of potential recruits before we sign them?

Head cases are usually not looked upon favorably by the NFL scouts.

I wonder what NFL teams will think about a prospect being "homesick"?
Thousands upon thousands of kids have to leave home and go to school/job hundreds of miles away every year for a WHOLE LOT LESS!
“Homesick”, there has to be more to it than that……………

It’s just a lame excuse. Nothing more nothing less. Impossible to convince me otherwise. Hope we are tampering with another DE to bring in this fall if possible

I will say it is kind of Weird to be homesick when you make enough money to fly home anytime you want to.
I say this with all due respect to the kid....maybe he's dealing with something much more serious than being homesick? I had a family member who dealt with high sports expectations and all the pressure it brings. Brought on a form of depression and led to other issues which eventually cost a young life. It's serious stuff. Hope the kid and his family get the help they need. If that means walking away from a sports career/money and pulling out of school to start fresh in life, so be it. The alternative is so very hard to live with.

If there are other things going on mentally and he needs help I hope he gets the help he needs. I don’t think bashing a teenager who has struggles, which we may not know anything about or have experience with does any good. My son went to 2 funerals over Christmas break for HS friends who had struggles, one being at UT and didn’t make thru first semester as a freshman, and neither had to worry about money either.
It’s usually something deeper than just missing home if people are really struggling. It can also be hard to understand as we think “3.5M” but need to be empathetic as not everybody’s brain is wired the same way.
