I know the penalty calls were terrible, BUT Chavis has a track record of NEVER being able to stop a passing team -- and certainly not stopping the two-minute offense (See UCLA, for another example; Florida for another). You would think that he would learn that he is not putting his players in a position to succeed.

The whole house needs to be cleaned. We need a new coach with an entirely new staff and mindset. Philly ball just cannot compete anymore.

I could name games all day where we haven't been able to stop a passing team. his track record is horrible:banghead2:

have them backed up up on their 3 or 4 whatever it was and give up a first down the receiver was wide open the defense has always played soft cant win games like this

Is that why we're #1 overall in SEC defense? Seriously, some of you guys don't think about things at all.

Agreed. We need work on certain areas, but Chavis doesnt need firing.

We havent played a decent offense (except for UF who wasn't forced to try to score and got 20000 yards on special teams) until today. We were eviscerated. How many times did Georgia punt today?

I actually thought the D would play fairly well today. I knew we hadn't played a good offense but I hoped we had one side of the ball that could play SEC ball when it needed to. I was wrong.

We have one and only one bright spot on this team. E. Berry is the man! He will have a long career in the NFL.

I have to add after thinking about it. No D could be good staying on the field all day. It might just be unfair of me to say they are no good. With a good offense this D might be ok.

UT problems are numerous but I feel that a good defense could of kept us in the game. Except for a mistakes by Georgia our Defense was a porous as it comes. Chavis doesn't know how to put a quality defense on the field any more. He needs to go

Chavis' conservatism is an enormous probelm for a D. The ease with which teams convert 3rd down murders us.

Chavis is one of, if not the, best defensive recruiters in the country. Firing him would be firing the one thing thats going semi-right at UT. If you don't believe me, take it from johnny majors.

The defense undoubtedly kept us in the game but they could have played a whole lot better. However, I think that even if the defense played a little better, we would still not come out of there with a W.

You're full of sh*t. The Vols are not #1 in the SEC on defense.

You stole my response. One punt. Yes, the offense sucked, but the defense could not get off the field, especially on third down.

Lol, you can't be serious. I thought it was common knowledge that Chavis didn't go on recruiting trips.
