Chavis is Senile

Would you really expect him to say anything different?

No, just omit the comparison.

If Fulmer was here (just for a hypothetical), do you think he would say he wouldn't trade Tyler Bray for Peyton Manning, during Bray's sophomore year?

I really don't care; just playing devil's advocate. I just found it a bit of a stretch. That's all :peace2:

You are right. He probably could have just talked up his current guys without naming any past players. It would have been a better way to accomplish the same thing.

Def. coach speak.

Chavis is a great coach, no doubt. But he's also a choke artist when it matters.

UGA 2001, LSU 2001, Auburn scoring 29 in 97 forcing Peyton to pull the comeback, allowing FSU's 3rd string QB to score 16pts on us in the NC, getting curb stomped by Braska in 98 Orange Bowl, Auburn not punting once in the 04 SEC title game, allowing UF to score 35pts in the second half in 95 or 96 can't recall and costing us a chance at a NC.

Just sayin

Holding Georgia scoreless in the second half and winning the 2011 SEC Championship game going away 42-10. You are having a bad day. I'd stop posting now.

Just sayin

Georgia never had a chance against Chavis and the Mad Hater! They were getting played with like a cat does a mouse.

Defensive philosophy seems to have changed somewhat. More of a risk taker. Wonder if that is growth on his part or Miles pushes him that way?

Could it also be that everybody in his two-deep in the secondary could conceivably be drafted in the NFL? I mean, that's gotta account for SOMETHING.

I think Coach Chavis is a good coach. Coach Dooley may be a good coach if he is ever in the situation where he has the caliber of players that Chief has. Of course then, that would require some on here realizing that the X's and O's are only as good as the players are.

This thread should be starred to highlight the shortcoming of this fanbase. So much misguided hate toward the mythical 3rd and Chavis. Yet everyone on this board would kill to have a D like LSU.

Too many posters are "I heard it somewhere, so it must be true and repeated." Yeah. Chavis sucks. His team is playing for the NC (sarcasm).

I know better than to respond, and I just need to stop checking in on VN.

i don't think chavis is changing his philosophy. now that he doesn't have fulmer handcuffing him he is able to run the defense the way he wants to.

I tend to agree, but we will never know for sure. Maybe Miles is just more of a gambler and pushed Chief out of his comfort zone. All the LSU d just seem to tee off and trust their teammates to cover mistakes.

I'm the OP,

I stated nothing about his coaching ability. I think he's a great defensive coordinator personally. I just thought his coach speak statement about the DT's were humorous. Nothing wrong with it, just thought it was funny.

Fulmer always did what he wanted...3rd and Chavis was a lot of Fulmer. Miles is hands off.
