All four years I was there football was a huge deal. We had about 10,000 attend the Cleveland game, that was about 1997. The Red Bank game was so over populated they had to move it to UTC's field. I don't recall the numbers, but I bet there was about 15,000 attend that the first year they did it. I went to Almost every game. We traveled well too, and over crowded pretty much every place we went. Good times. So, I guess it depends on where you went to school.

Ahhhhh those Cleveland yrs. Dante Hickey the best RB I have ever seen come out of East TN and what a waste of pure talent.

I'm just wandering when my Sequatchie Co Indians are going to make a run. Nowdays nobody wants to coach them it seems. They lured colquitt out of retirement (he was Eric Westmorelands HC at Marion Co) and he couldn't do much with them either. I would love to see some kids from there make a name for our town.

If you know anything about Chattanooga you know the city is on the rise. #RiseToTheTop. Ever since Volkswagen came to the city, its been growing like crazy. VW is expanding soon. And will had another 1500 or so jobs from what I hear. This will bring in more suppliers, Apartments, restaurants, etc

Knoxville: 183,270
Chattanooga: 173,366

I think within 25 year Chattanooga will pass Knoxville in Population.

The level of high school sports in Chattanooga is getting better. I think that Chattanooga will be able to produce at least 5-10 FBS level players a year. Not long from now. This year they have a good one from McCallie who plays CB.

The state as a whole is suddenly producing more talent. And I think it won't be long before chatt town does it's part to contribute.

Maybe this is what CCS in Chattanooga is seeing also. They just started a FB program within the last 7-8 years. They have made two big time hires as coaches. Rob Spence (Clemson OC, Rutgers QC, Maryland QC, etc.) was hired last year as head coach. Last week the head coach at Ridgeland was hired as the DC. I think they see the level of good players on the rise.

McCallie's qb is getting tons of looks by the majors. He is the real thing.

McCallie's QB is getting looks from major D1 schools as a DT-QB. His last name is Craig. I think he's rated as a 3 star on 247.

No. It will be much worse than Atlanta. Already is. When I drive up from Atlanta to Middle Tennessee to visit the folks it isn't the Atlanta traffic that usually gets me. It is 24 west of Chattanooga. In either direction. Atlanta's traffic usually moves. Chattanooga's has a tendency to stop.

i figured out back in early 80,s that more than half the people around change favorite teams as much or more than they change cloths.There would still be a few fans of UGA ,bama and uk basketball if they were not winners but those who say i am a Tennessee fan in football and UK fan in basketball is crazy .there is nothing about that that sounds right to me. i been a VOL fan my whole life win loose or draw only other collage teams i was ever a fan of was LMU were i went to school and carson newman in football because LMU had no football team .its amazing how every year as far back as i remember people i knew seem to always be fans of teams who win i had one guy that every year who ever won super bowl it was his favorite team i told him u cant change favorites every year .

As a McCallie alum, I have followed Craig's progress quite a bit since he started playing QB. He's definitely talented, although I would say that he is more of a Nick Marshall type. If you watched McCallie's offense last year, they played a LOT like Auburn did in 2013- not a whole lot of a passing game. It worked for them though. I think he would have better opportunities at the next level if he would be open to other positions.

Having lived in Chattanooga my entire life. What are ya'll talking about the part of Chattanooga in GA???? There is no Chattanooga, GA. Chattanooga is only in TN. If you are in GA you are no longer in Chattanooga.

Marquee HS football games here in DFW rent out Cowboy Stadium. Was amazed when leaving a Rangers' baseball game that I could see HS players on the big screen there. May be the only community service Jerry Jones does. He rents that NFL stadium for less than UNT, SMU, TCU or even the Cotton Bowl will.
Sure that he gets a write off or something, but he has been doing that since he bought the Cowboys.

No one has ever said that the man doesn't know how to make money...bought the Cowboys for 140 million and now they're worth 3.2 billion. He's making the Death Star a landmark for the Metroplex and the whole state by practically donating that stadium for high school events...conventions,college playoff games and the like mega bank for him.
