Agree. We may not get the best that is out there, but we do have the carrot of early playing time. And that will help attract a top level prospect.

As I recall, Boyd had a partial tear that he played his entire season on, so I don't think he was or would be "riding the pine" because he "blew his knee out."

His knee has nothing to do with Kiffin running him off. We took commitment from a DT, Jeffrey, with a bum knee as well.

Kiffin said more than once in interviews that the reason he ran him off was that "he did not want to sign someone he felt would ride the bench for 4 yrs"...translation= not good enough.

The Army All American Bowl showed he indeed IS good enough, and that Kiffin screwed the pooch on this one. The kid got Co-MVP honors with Bryce Brown...with some sweet TD hookups with Bryce.

Why can't people just acknowledge a cock-up when it's obvious it occured. Boyd said in an interview after that game that the staff tried to contact him afterward...he assumed they were trying to cross a bridge they just burned. I'd just like to hear CLK admit that he would like to have that decision back.

It's one thing to run off a QB that you "THINK" doesn't fit when you have quite a bit of both talent and depth...but when you have neither, you don't roll the dice and throw away a 5* QB prospect. You just don't do it and not suffer the repercussions from it. That's where we are. Kiffin's a champ already at one thing...nobody can snub a QB like he can. 2 in the 09 class, and he's snubbed every other good prospect apart from Scroggins.

Rettig is his 2nd QB F.U. in a year, IMHO, and it's still early.

LK also took Janzen Jackson who truly blew out his knee and ended his season last year, usually a more devastating injury for a speed-based corner than a QB anyway.

I saw a BC game on the tube. When bad stuff happened like their qb getting sacked, BC fans would just frown a little and do little golf claps. There was no good southern shirt-rippin and cup throwin. WTF?

The only reason he got co mvp with bryce is cause bryce embarrasses the linebacker and gets wide open all boyd had to do was throw it up

It really didn't. He attempted 9 passes. The vast majority of his yardage and both TDs were gained on two bombs to his running back. That's a pass he won't be attempting very much in college. He may end up being a solid player, but that game doesn't prove anything. I could find 9 passes of Crompton's that make him look like an All-American.

The truth is that it is just a horrible year to be in the position we are in. There are few great QBs on the board, and we need a great one in a bad way. Save Scroggins, maybe, we are down into a group of QBs that all have knocks and would probably not be able to help us much at all in 2010. As far as QB play goes, taking a good QB who stands out during his senior year will be just as good as the guys we are missing out on now. Of course, the bigger issue is the recruiting advantage a big-name guy would give us. But, for all intents and purposes, Rettig wasn't that big name, Hendrix wasn't that big name, Brunetti wasn't that big name. There were only a handful of big names, and we were really only in with two of those, Scroggins and Heaps.

The 10-20 ranked qb's in 2010 class are not anywhere as good as what UT has now. Those guys (10-20) would not be in the to 30-50 in 2011 class. Why get someone just to get him??? If he can't help, why pull the trigger. That makes no sense. This is a stupid analogy........but if your girlfriend is a 5-6, why go out with a 3-4, wait a while and find a 8-10! Unless you are just really ugly (UT is not ugly).

Again...Has anyone really seen what Stephens can do with decent talent and a good coaching staff?

I love how some of ussay someone good will emerge but i rather go with the guy they say can be the number 1 QB by jan. and the guy we know is really out there and has PROVEN himself:ermm:

I'm glad you did that. There is a list of posters on here that have some explaining to do. It's one thing to start a thread off with "IMO" and another to pass info off like it's fact.

I wish people would quit passing off crap information as fact on here. There are a few posters that have lost some credibility with today's announcement.
