Even with a reduced completion percentage JG had a better game this week. He made only one really bad pass (#19) and one that should have been a little more to WRs chest (#15). Otherwise he did a fantastic job of managing the game and converting 3rd downs. Also had a few nice scrambles to get us at or near the the 1st down. I hope this is a formula we can stick to moving forward.

Agreed. He played "better". He still did not do the things necessary to beat top tier opponents. He still completed only 33% of throws over 15 yds. That has to improve starting right now.

The secondary was rough, but Shamburger being out and Thompson being limited contributed to that. I thought the D-line played fine, not too much penetration but they've occupied blockers really well and allowed for the linebackers to stay unblocked and make plays

Your analysis seems a bit biased with all of the coverage incompletions. Pass 6 for example was way over Palmers head in the corner of the end zone and even the ref indicated it was uncatchable. Yes the coverage was there but the throw was way high so to say it was coverage is not accurate. Pass 10 was slightly under thrown allowing the DB to bat it away and pass 11 was thrown about 3 yards out of bounds. Not spending anymore time doing the analysis but pretty sure there are other examples of inaccurate throws as there were definitely more than only two according to your analysis.

Having said that, I do feel like he played a good game especially on his throws downfield.

What concerns me about Saturday's game is georgia's secondary. They were ALL OVER the Auburn receivers the entire game. I personally thought they were getting away with robbery mugging those guys but maybe the refs were just letting them play. Regardless, the Auburn receivers were CO-VERED.

I like the guy, and hope he does well this year. Even if I wasn’t a fan, I would pull for this dude.

Can't really tell how well he is doing unless you indicate which passes are big time throws, in garbage time, or on 3rd and 12-17 yards. Those are the true litmus test stats for JG.

Our guys had better be ready for physical play from their secondary. Not going to be a game for the timid.

There's definitely no inherent bias from me. If I designate an incompletion as "coverage" it's due to the very low chance the pass could have been completed due to coverage, like the pass you referenced. The "bad throw" incompletions are passes he is expected to make (or not attempt in the near INT).

Yeah, the check downs aren’t going to beat the UGAs and UFs. He has to be able to stretch the field more consistently in order to open up the run game and put us in a position to win.

Then I'm not sure what the intent of the analysis was - I thought it was to track accurate vs. inaccurate passes. An accurate pass that was incomplete is either due to the receiver dropping it or the DB making a play on it either by batting it away or making it impossible to catch (e.g., dislodging the ball). I would classify the latter as incomplete due to coverage. If a pass is thrown 3 yards out of bounds or over a player's head, then that is an inaccurate pass regardless of the coverage. There are many times a pass is completed with tight coverage because of a good throw.
