JG's biggest issue today is what it was in game one, his attitude. It is not mechanics or ability, he can do it, he obviously does in practice when no fans are watching. However, in a games he wants to show everyone that he is great so he pushes harder, hence the problem on money downs. Just watch when he makes a good play like the TD pass and him shooting the arrow, and him walking around with the ball after the game like he deserved the game ball. He wants to be great and just pushes to hard, when he could be if he didn't push.
From what I see this is a timing issue, he's late then rushes the throw. In the past it's been on him, could it be that timing is off due to chemistry with receivers, possibly but given his history it's hard for me to give the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully he can correct this and anticipate and make the throw on schedule.Just thought it would be interesting to go back and watch the game and chart the throws to see how JG ended up with decent to good stats but we were only 1 of 12 on 3rd downs. (* = would have converted 3rd down)

So based on the bad throws and how open the WR was, JG missed six 3rd down conversions to open WRs so that 1 of 12 could have easily been 6/7 of 12. Almost all of his bad throws were on 3rd down and that was a huge difference in this game. The game is not close if hit those 3rd down passes.
So maybe I think about things differently than most, but if you miss a wide open receiver on 3rd down that would have resulted in a 1st that is the same as a turnover, so I would argue he had at least 3 turnovers.
So are you going to count drops and bad routes as yards and completions for him? What about an extra td when the other players mess up a drive? So maybe I think about things differently than most, but if you miss a wide open receiver on 3rd down that would have resulted in a 1st that is the same as a turnover, so I would argue he had at least 3 turnovers.
Why does that matter, pretty sure every QB does the same thing. But go ahead, take the 5 attempts, 5 completions and the 29 yards V Jones had from his stats and tell us all the big difference in his completion pct, make sure to include the yards per completion as that is the one that would change the most.I like and appreciate what you did here. What I would like to see though is how many of those completions were on short throws (like ones to backs behind the line) or on those little passes (more like handoffs, but forward) to the WR that runs right in front of him. I think those passes increase his completion stats and are throws that grandma could have made.
At least he went to the right guy each time and on time.
He just needs to get the overthrows under control and he would have had an All SEC type game like everyone wants.
Good break down. Can I ask for a few more things to add? On the incomplete passes.. Can you list if any had a defensive player rushing. List which were 1 and 2 down throws also. Maybe I missed but JG throws every pass like he’s playing dodgeball. Can’t remember a QB that throws a less catchable ball. He avoided the big mistake yes but has absolutely ZERO touch. Almost like he’s trying to show how strong of arm he has. In contrast, Trask looks like he floats every ball but it’s always in the perfect spot and so much more catchable.
