The difference with Directv and the rest of the providers negotiations is that ESPN/Disney's contract with them is also up at the same time. They are not just negotiating the SEC network. They are also negotiating for the rest of the package as well. It's going to take some time.

This is basically what the installer was telling me. He said that Directv was negotiating the exclusive rights for the collelge football Playoffs (similar to Sunday ticket)and that they viewed that as a bigger deal than the SEC network.

I do believe it will eventually happen but I am not too confident that it'll be done in time to see the first game.

What did he mean by exclusive rights for the college football playoffs? Cause there's no way they will get that. If he told you that he probably didn't know what he was talking about.

Is this a guess or did you read this somewhere

It's a WAG. They need two weeks to set up everything. They should have most things in place pending the green light but they need to communicate to subscribers and keep them from getting restless and jumping ship.
