And in before anyone can say it....this is not in any way an excuse for the pathetic performance of the offense, particularly the OL. I am very worried about our OL.

And yes, I am quite aware they are CUSA and haven't really played any top caliber teams.

Having said that, I wonder why we didn't emphasize the pass more? Chris Doering stated Friday night, that given our OL and their run D, we might struggle running the ball but would put up big numbers passing. Thus I have to wonder why we didn't pass more?

Also, why was Banks the main ball carrier? I know Chandler was nicked up, but what was wrong with Jordan? He averaged 4.5 ypc on just 4 touches, but Banks carried 11 times for just 2.2 ypc. I'm very puzzled that Jordan didn't get more touches.

And again....let me emphasize THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR THE CRAP WE ALL SAW ON OFFENSE, but I almost think Pruitt just chose to rest a lot of guys. Still should have been a much much better effort, but the other explanation is that they had a bad gameplan and made unwise personnel decisions.

Whichever....but either way I expect us to rely on the pass more next week and we damn well better be feeding the ball to Chandler and Jordan if they are healthy.

Man, you got me.

I’ve been doing some head scratching lately on coaching and personnel decisions.

Rookies? Frustration? Out of answers? Thrown in the towel?

Unsure.

Part of the reason is that some people throw so easily on them they haven't bothered with running. Appy State's QB was 14-14 for 295 yards and 3 tds against them. That's the only team with a pulse they've played all season. They've still given up multiple rushing tds to many teams this year. Lead backs vs them have had stat lines of around 10-12 carries for 65-80 yards with 1 or 2 tds. Fordam and WKU with their combined rushing total of 33 yards in the 2 games have skewed their stats in that department. But Fordham's QB threw for 300 yards vs Charlotte.

MTSU also had a low yardage total, but it was because Charlotte gave them short fields. MTSU's QB had 3 touchdown passes on only 111 yards passing and the team only had 144 total yards when they beat Charlotte.

AGREE. This should have be >35 to <10 at minimum by 3Q at latest Actual Vegas lines went up over week from upper teens to 23. This one game cost a 4 team and 9 team parlay. Went 3-1 and 8-1

What stats are you reading that from?

All I could find was Total Defense at NCAA Stats.
They have Charlotte at 18 but you have to consider who they played to get the numbers making up the stats that are used in this ranking because Alabama was ranked 16 on the same chart and I doubt very seriously that they are that close.

Let me know where you saw that because after tonights game they may well be ranked 18th.

UMASS beat Charlotte by 18 points and scored 49. The fact is our team was utter atrocious. It shouldnt matter if Charlotte had the #1 ranked total defense. They should never, and I mean never be able to stifle TN the way they did. Complete and utter failure by the coaches and players.

192 yards of total offense .....Against Charlotte?? Total fail IMO. I'm sick of being the laughingstock of the SEC most weeks.

The problem is our starting line wouldn’t start on most C-USA teams.

Yeah but what was JG's completion %? TD's dont matter here, its that completion % that tells the real story!
I'm not a JG basher, but when you throw a 5 yard pass to your safety valve 80% of the time, you're completion rate is goin to be inflated. He does not have good filed presence to find the open receivers

Our red zone failures have much more to do with an inability to open up running holes than with JG’s ability at QB.

I don’t understand why he generates so much controversy.

The weight room needs to be in full workout mode all winter. There should be zero excuses, we have to quit getting pushed around up front. We simply are not strong enough nor big enough upfront and there is no excuse for that with all the resources Tennessee has. Find some big uglies that want to get bigger and stronger. If they don't send them packing, it's been far too long that we get pushed around upfront, dadgum way too long. If you want to win in the SEC we have to get bigger and stronger in the trenches, it is just as simple as that. GBO!

UNCC opponents....

Fordham
App St...a 45-9 lose
Old Dominion
UNass....a 49-31 loss
UAB a 28-7 loss
W. Kentucky
MTSU.....put up 21 points on them
S. Miss

So yeah......

Also the only team to put up less points than Tennessee is powerful Fordham. And their offense put up 7 points.

So are we saying out talent level is on line with Fordham?

Entering yesterday's game, Charlotte was giving up 90 yards rushing per game and 3.1 yards per carry. We gained 20 yards on 26 carries (0.8 ypc); only Fordham did worse.

Right here:

NCAA Statistics

After holding us to 20 yards rushing, they are now 3rd. That's pretty sad, lol.

Not sure the link will work, so including an attachment.
