Charlie Strong is the modern-day Pat Dye. If he gets a shot at an elite-program, then he'll produce elite-level results.

Petrino left Louisville in a numbers-bind. Kragthorpe left them in a talent-bind. Strong attracted quality coaches, recruited South Florida like he was an in-state coach, and immediately dominated recruiting in his home state. That is the foundation right there for his success, a success that would prove a winning formula for a program like Tennessee.

If we cant land an elite. Yes i would offer him before kirby smart or any of those type of unproven coaches

Steve Spurrier....from East Tennessee, proved about all he needs to at South Carolina and in my mind, tied with Saban as the best in the SEC.

Strong isn't a sure thing, but he has a lot of potential. I'd be okay with this hire if the big-names turn us down first.

Strong is the anti-Dooley.

He's a great coach, but not a good recruiter. It's also unclear whether he's a good administrator.

My big worry with him is that he'd immediately turn things around in his first few years, but like Fulmer, the program might decay a bit after that.

Of course, this might not be the case; just saying that's the thing I'd be most worried about with Strong. His recruiting classes at Louisville have been dismal. Current class is ranked #71 on Rivals. To put that in perspective, Dooley was grabbing mid-70's classes at Louisiana Tech, and it should be much easier to recruit at Louisville than La Tech.

Im afraid its going to be Kirby Smart and were in for a long ride.

Ive seen nothing to suggest that Saban does not have dictatorial control over that program and that any coaches on that staff are complete unknowns.

I respectfully disagree about Charlie not being a good recruiter. He's got a solid pipeline to South Florida talent, and a great reputation with HS coaches.

I don't want Charlie anywhere near the SEC East. If Dooley is done at UT, Hart would be a fool not to have Strong on his short list.

Strong is a good coach and recruiter. Not sure why people are saying the d would be better,.UofLs d is bad. That being said, he doesn't like that this is a basketball city/state. Would leave for a football school.

Would this not be a legit hire? A qualified hire? Where is he most likely to end up? Arkansas, Auburn, or Tennessee?

No, I live in louisville and he is terrible. UofL has played no one this season and they think they deserve a shot at the NC. I dont think he is proven as a head coach. Saying that I think he will end up at Arkansas.
