because they are the government, and should be accountable to us, I was just told they don't wear ID numbers so masks really minimize that. our taxes pay for it, meaning we have a say and a part in it. and generally the good guys aren't the ones wearing the masks. hard to build public trust if you won't even show your face. too much room for shenanigans, see Trump during Covid.

the government will always concern me more than just about anything else. its not our job to justify the government doing something, its the government's job to justify to us why they need to do something. the concerns that have been raised have not been dire enough to override public interests.

So has anyone offered up a deal where ICE doesn't wear masks but any protester or other person acting out wearing a mask can be summarily detained long enough to unmask and identify?

I think you are confused. I personally do not care anything about you in reality. But your dialog on this board- it’s fun to push your buttons. To the point of causing a multi paragraph post.

I buy the argument that one isn't a protestor if you are wearing a mask. I have no issue with your proposal.

wow, I have a real big problem with that. if they are engaging with the public or acting around the public they need to be identifiable.

So swat teams have their names etc on their uniforms??
Edit: no thru don't... The name and identifying info only applied when cops and ICE are in official uniform.... Plain cloths officers and ICE are not required to. So those are typically undercover your etc... So masking on those raid would be acceptable according to the policies..
