It's actually in line with my thinking. That's not a lot better. It's a dumb take.
I agree. Even people who have similar experiences have different feelings at different intensity, and for different lengths of time. True empathy is, at best, a "I've been there myself" type of relatability. It's actually in line with my thinking.
Empathy is impossible, the actual act of thinking that you can comprehend or know what Erika Kirk or Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis thought or felt as they watched their husbands assasinated.
Versus Sympathy, the act of feeling sorrow and compassion knowing you can't possibly understand how they thought or felt in that moment.
It makes a lot of sense to me, may have something to do with my ADD type brain though.
For many in MAGA, its not sincere. It is a ruse, which they use to make it look like MAGA is open to diverse voices and interests, when in reality it is anything but. MAGA positions are decidedly against such voices and interests.
Consider MAGA rallies during the campaign. 99.99 percent white and they would use the one or two black people there as props, sitting behind Trump. Scan the audience? Entirely white.
Some have figured out a way to monetize their support of Trump or MAGA, to be sure. We see their x or instagrams re-posted here from time to time.
Now, having said that, there is nothing per se barring blacks from buying into all sorts of other MAGA ideals. Anti-immigration, crack down on crime, tax cuts for the wealthy, promoting religiosity. Any racial or ethnic group can buy into all or parts of that.
But when it comes to race relations, and in particular how blacks are viewed in terms of social programs and criminality, MAGA is without question a permission slip for that 99.99 percent to adhere to those resentful views, even if dressed up in pretend tolerance.
I don’t know if ice agents have their last name plastered on the front of their uniform, but if they do, and these protesters, take pictures of their face, dox them and then turn up at their house in large numbers for who knows what purpose, that could be a problem. In today’s political climate, you don’t want to afford them some anonymity considering the job they have to do? Does your thought on that change if ice agents end up getting targeted and killed? I disagree with how Trump is going about some of these immigration policies, but I don’t have a problem with protecting the ice agents identity.Newsom's on the right side of that. There's no good reason for ICE to hide behind masks.
what happens when every agent's name is "smith" or they forget to wear a tag, or keep it concealed someway? once you allow the masks you allow them to cover up more and more.I don’t know if ice agents have their last name plastered on the front of their uniform, but if they do, and these protesters, take pictures of their face, dox them and then turn up at their house in large numbers for who knows what purpose, that could be a problem. governments have killed far more than the cartels ever could. I am never going to be ok with giving them more power, or plausible deniability. Then we would have 0 ICE agents and thugs running amok.... No thanks
What happens if an ICE agent(s) become the target of violence when unhinged people find out where they live, who their family is, etc? Are you saying that’s just too bad, it’s just their cost of being employed by ICE? Then that ends up being the cost of doing business for all of law enforcement. I agree the policy on these ICE raids should be changed. I don’t agree the individual ICE agents don’t deserve some level of personal protection.what happens when every agent's name is "smith" or they forget to wear a tag, or keep it concealed someway? once you allow the masks you allow them to cover up more and more.
the political atmosphere is made worse by them wearing masks. ICE's tactics have been a key source of fuel for that particular fire. they shouldn't get special considerations because its blowing up in their faces.
