According to multiple 2025 polls, support for Donald Trump among Black voters has declined significantly since the 2024 presidential election, returning closer to historical norms
. In the months following the election, his approval rating fell sharply, driven largely by discontent over economic issues and various policies.

Decline since the 2024 election
  • August 2025: An Economist/YouGov poll found Trump's net approval rating among Black voters had dropped by 25 points since May, from a net rating of -47 to -73. The poll showed only 11% approval compared to 84% disapproval.
  • May 2025: An earlier poll showed Trump with a 22% approval rating and a 69% disapproval rating among Black voters.
  • 2024 election vs. 2025: Trump won 15% of the Black vote in the 2024 election. However, his support began to decline after taking office, with poll readings in 2025 reverting toward typical levels for a Republican president among Black voters.
Key factors in the decline
Multiple issues are cited as reasons for the drop in support:

  • Economic concerns: Black voters expressed low approval of Trump's handling of the economy and inflation. In an August 2025 poll, only 9% approved of his handling of jobs and the economy, down from 24% in May.
  • Policy backlash:
    • "Big, Beautiful Bill" spending package: This legislation, which included tax cuts for the wealthy, was viewed with concern because it could make millions of low-income people, including many Black Americans, ineligible for Medicaid.
    • Project 2025 agenda: Features of this plan, such as expanded "stop and frisk" policies, are perceived by some as potential threats to civil rights.
    • Attacks on DEI: Actions targeting diversity and inclusion programs have also contributed to eroding support.
  • Failed promises: Some voters who were swayed by Trump's campaign promises on the economy now feel his administration's focus has shifted to issues like immigration enforcement and government downsizing.
  • Reversion to historical norms: Political scientists suggest that after a post-election honeymoon period, Black voters' approval of Trump reverted to more typical historical ratings for Republican presidents.
that's always the case. the support of every candidate, across every demographic takes a hit after the election and the results start rolling in. willing to bet Trump's support amongst the white demographic took a hit as well with those economic moves.

its not a racial thing. no matter how much you want it to be.

even splitting the difference between the two elections is still a big win for the Rs.

For many in MAGA, its not sincere. It is a ruse, which they use to make it look like MAGA is open to diverse voices and interests, when in reality it is anything but. MAGA positions are decidedly against such voices and interests.

Consider MAGA rallies during the campaign. 99.99 percent white and they would use the one or two black people there as props, sitting behind Trump. Scan the audience? Entirely white.

Some have figured out a way to monetize their support of Trump or MAGA, to be sure. We see their x or instagrams re-posted here from time to time.

Now, having said that, there is nothing per se barring blacks from buying into all sorts of other MAGA ideals. Anti-immigration, crack down on crime, tax cuts for the wealthy, promoting religiosity. Any racial or ethnic group can buy into all or parts of that.

But when it comes to race relations, and in particular how blacks are viewed in terms of social programs and criminality, MAGA is without question a permission slip for that 99.99 percent to adhere to those resentful views, even if dressed up in pretend tolerance.

Every time you post "MAGA", you just continue to support the facts that you are loon. Kind of like when you came out on the forum to say you hadn't vote in "many cycles" which was nutjob lie. Logically speaking, whether you are here to promote Trump or the ones that follow or not, its pretty obvious every time I see nutty posts like yours on the interwebs I think one more Trump or Vance vote.

Every time I see swampy or chicken luther post I think the same way - here comes more Vance voters.

This entire collection of thoughts and beliefs is a perfect expression of my thoughts on another post, see below:

The left and right are both guilty of this mentality, the "it isn't of or for our preferred group or subgroup, so I resist/reject it". Even if it makes common sense.

The right, MAGA in particular have been clear that welfare policies disinsentivising the nuclear family have harmed all groups, but the African American people particularly. That portions of the culture are toxic and antithetical to civilized society.

There are many black people who feel the same way, some have, as you say platformed it. But are they doing it for money or for what they believe is the best interest of those that look like them? I'm sure it's some of both, but dismissing it as some people just looking to make money.... In this day and age they would be found and exposed in short order.

Correct, because it wasn't as much a vote in support of Trump, it was a vote of no confidence of the lefts policies in general and the candidate in particular.

This was discussed as nauseum after the election.

The left has to meet the middle halfway...... But they've made no moves in that direction so far that I can tell.

Just out of curiosity, is it potentially racist to think that minorities are gullible rubes who are too stupid to think for themselves when it comes to party affiliations, so they need their VN white savior to tell them how they should think?

I respectfully disagree. They got sold a bill of goods and if a 25 % drop happened across the board, across all demographic groups, Trump would be pretty much a lame duck already.

A 25 % drop with blacks is imo directly a result of the attack of he and others in MAGA, since the election, on DEI, slavery in the Smithsonian, and the like.

No because many people, white and black, were tricked this time around, and have come to regret their votes.

I agree that the Dem party, or "the left," did a piss poor job of shoring up black support in '24 and they also have let the black community down repeatedly, all of which led to the spike in support for Trump.

But it was short-lived, and Trump and Co. have, pardon the pun, shown their true colors in the last 6 months and black support has plummeted.

It was never support, that's the whole point. It was a rejection of the platform the Democrats advanced in general and in particular the candidate they ran.

Where did Trump disappoint the 15% of black voters he got in 2024? Surely it wasn't DEI. They knew he wasn't for that

As for the ones who don't like what they're seeing from Trump, the question is will they vote Dem in 2026 or "stay home"?

You're all over the place on this.

MAGA is racist, just look at the low number of minorities in their camp. Except that there are lots of minorities in their camp. Yah. Because MAGA lies to get them into their camp.

So, MAGA is racist because they've tried very hard to get minorities in their movement.

you JUST said it was because of economics!!!!

willing to bet most people, not just AA, didn't even know about that stuff. you have to realize that most of the nation doesn't focus their daily lives on Trump like you do. you would really gain some perspective about Trump, and the government in general, if you took a step back and saw the wider world instead of hyper focusing on everything thru partisan lenses.

name any candidate ever who has upheld even a majority of their campaign promises.

every election relies on the politician tricking the voters to vote for them. its why we are in this mess in the first place. If Obama/Bush etc had done what they promised we never would have been in a place for Trump to get elected.

Yes, it was always the economy as well, I left that off my last reply.

But that's going to and always has been a challenge for the incumbent. And that challenge is only going to get incrementally worse until we realize we can't just spend our problems away.

lol, you use some very bad informal anecdotal evidence, but ignore the actual results of the election. continuing your incredibly racist world view.

Trump has grown the republican support amongst pretty much every racial minority group, and by pretty significant margins. its not one or two token black people in a crowd either.

AA in 2012 voted 6% for the Republican candidate. 13% in 2024
27% hispanic, 46% in 2024
26% asian, 40% in 2024
38% of the "other", 55% in 2024

before you try the Obama argument, Kamala is black too.
He's about to have a black MAGA Governor. 😂🤣

As opposed to the democratic party? That's laughable. What has your party done for minorities? They live on the democratic plantation. Minorities are becoming increasingly wise to it.

You May Have Missed It, But Left-Wing Violence Is Only Getting Worse Since Charlie Kirk’s Killing

Several politically motivated attacks have flown under the radar, from disruptions at vigils for Charlie Kirk to a shooting at a local ABC News station after the firing of Jimmy Kimmel.

Two people were arrested Thursday after allegedly disrupting a Massachusetts vigil held for Kirk, Boston.com reported. The protesters included individuals affiliated with Antifa, which President Donald Trump recently declared a terrorist organization.

One of the instigators was a minor who was arrested on suspicion of assault and battery, according to the outlet. Police said the suspect allegedly punched someone wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, Fox Digital reported. Law enforcement said he was carrying a knife and will charged with possession of a dangerous weapon. (RELATED: Left-Wing Militias Are Hiding Right Under Our Noses)

Another assault took place during a Sunday vigil at a Florida retirement community when a 56-year-old protester allegedly shoved a 73-year-old after a brief confrontation, according to Fox Orlando.

A gunman shot and killed a man at a New Hampshire country club Saturday, and a witness claimed the alleged shooter shouted “Free Palestine.”

New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said in a Sunday press conference there is no evidence the alleged shooter — a former employee at the facility — was acting with “a hate-based motivation.”

Again, do not confuse Trump’s poll numbers (who is not up for reelection) with party preference polls. Even if Trump‘s numbers are down, democrats are under the basement.
Your biggest worry shouldn’t be minorities voting the wrong way; the bigger danger is simply that they will not vote period.

If the people claiming that politicial violence is primarily an issue for the right are correct; how do they explain the total absence of rioting, violence, or destructive protests by Charlie Kirk supporters?
If this had been a beloved figure on the left, entire cities would be burning in all new „mostly peaceful“ protests

These are people who decided 50 years ago that authoritarianism is strictly right-wing, at the time that Communism was the most horrendous and dehumanizing active authoritarianism on the planet. These are the folks that marked Nazism as a right-wing movement, ignoring that their published doctrines were radical socialism.
