Charlie Kirk Shot and killed

Hasan Piker who has called for “gutting” and “shanking” his opponents, who has stated he wants to “kill them (property owners), murder those mfers in the street, let the streets soak in their red capitalist blood”

The NYT thought he was the appropriate person to do an op Ed about Kirk. In which he blamed the death on climate change, rent prices, homelessness, and capitalism in general.

This is the problem. These aren’t fringe views. NYT is as mainstream as it gets

I don’t know why it is so hard to keep your mouth shut on social media. Nobody cares that much about your opinion.
Well, sounds like his ex wife that cost him his job is very emotionally disturbed. That’s probably a tall task for her.

Kamala Harris rarely was called anything like that, yet she called Trump a fascist among other things. Labor Day weekend we had the Dem Leader of the Senate saying into a megaphone F*** Trump. Now Trump definitely says outlandish things but have you ever seen him resort to such gutter language to describe a major politician?
Yep. Enemy of the people, traitors, ............trump was/is the king of silly insults and name calling.
Here are a few dozen.

Knee jerk outrage spreads faster and further than reason and logic. I look at it as a business decision by the NYT.

We aren't on the same page. I don’t know his religious beliefs or yours and really try not to evaluate other people's religious views.

I think its very personal and this isn't the forum for that except as it relates to politics and that starts with whether religion should have a role in politics. I believe strongly that religion should play NO role in politics.

It needs to be a VERY nuanced conversation, as every Christian has every right to vote for candidates that align with their political and moral views, as much as anyone else. IMO, the balance needs to be that we are VERY careful about exactly what morality we try to enforce through the law.

It seems that Kirk believe it should play not just a large role, but a controlling one. I disagree with him fundamentally on that point.

You'd need to give specifics. It's been my experience that Kirk took efforts to differentiate between his personal views and that which he wanted to see enforced as law. This is exactly what I've been talking about. People who make sweeping statements about him, and then cherry pick quotes out of context to support the claims. You haven't even bothered to so much as cherry pick supporting facts to make the claim.

But again, this is all beside the point. You accused me sanitizing his comments and manipulating facts to do so. That could not be further from the truth, and I would expect an apology, but don't need one.

Have a good day.

I meant no offense and apologize if it came across as suggesting you weren't sincere.

You did more than that. You suggested that I did things that I did not do. But no worries on my end. Like I said, no apology needed. 🤝

Again, you are spinning his harsh positions on HIS VIEW of Christianity and how that ought to control political issues by saying that from time to time he cloaked it in something else.

This is anything but a nuanced conversation.

If you want to have it, post contextualized statements from Charlie as opposed to just throwing random, unsupported **** on a dead man's gravestone.

I’m actually a big fan of Tim Dillion and his comedy, but I unsubscribed from his YouTube today. He posted videos blaming Israel for Kirk’s death.

Trump is known for his nicknames but he's not known for nicknames that tie a person to a cold blooded killer like Hitler. You must be able to see that difference. Nor does he use words that can't be used on network television like Schumer did

I will say Luther, I do not recall you name calling very often. That sets you apart from the Bluesky crowd

In 2018 he championed separation of church and state. By 2022 he espoused Christian Nationalism and said separation of church and state was fabricated.

While you’re smearing a deadman, can you tell us how old he was in 2018?

Also, separation of church and state is fabricated

If the worst anyone ever says is that men with more testosterone are more likely to be Republican/conservative, that person is likely a saint.

But there is evidence showing that giving democrats testosterone, increases their interest in right wing positions.

The evidence is better though for physical strength than testosterone as a predictor

Don’t get me started on testosterone

It is a franchise location. It makes sense for Roadhouse tho, that area is very red and the calls for boycott were instant. Where is the line drawn for what is a fireable offense? Should businesses not be allowed to fire someone for anything they want?
The problem they will run into is company precedent. Have they been terminating others for awfull crap their spouses have posted online?

It is a fabrication. He is correct.

This is not a nuanced conversation. You claimed that he wants to enforce his beliefs on others. You do too. I do too. We ALL need to make judgments about just which ones are enforced, no matter the source of each of our moral codes.

If you want to have a nuanced conversation, post the things that Charlie wanted mandated. From your article, which reads basically as just a rallying hit job, here's what I could find:

“Charlie was just like, ‘Listen, we’re going to rally the churches and tell them that it’s OK to have political opinions about transgender surgeries for minors, about keeping your churches open during Covid and registering voters,’” Kolvet said.

OMG, threat to doom-ocracy!

He traveled to churches telling Christians it's OK to have political opinions and to try to seek influence in our culture.

OK.

Again, would you like to have a nuanced conversation? Are you saying that it's not OK for Christians to seek cultural influence, vote their consciences, try to keep their churches open against unconstitutional laws, try to prevent the disfigurement and sterilization of kids, registering voters?

And even if he were to go further than my opinion on Christian political activity. That's OK. It means he had a different opinion. Not that he was evil.

A wrongful termination lawsuit will likely answer that question. I think TXRH is getting ready to see a lawsuit with a lot of zeros after the comma and in front of the decimal point.
This gets to a weird spot imo.

if something is costing the company money somehow, someway; should the company be expected to maintain status quo?

if an environment is created where the workers don't feel comfortable working for someone, no matter the reason, should corporate do nothing about it?

its crappy they fired one person over what another said, but if it disrupts business and costs them money, I don't see why any company would tolerate it.
