Charlie Kirk Shot and killed

"Total animals. No impulse control. Is it genetic or the product of a defective culture?"

Am I doing it right?

Does that sentiment carry over to TV and radio? Should there be FCC fines regulating speech (bad words)?
Ive never thought about that… I would say it’s a privilege to broadcast over the TV/Radio so if a station fired you because you’re causing them to get fined that’s justified. And it does seem like it’d be a violation for the FCC to regulate speech, how is that not against the 1st A?

I don't know how beyond the licensing required to broadcast TV and radio signals. I guess that licensing comes with stipulations on content (nudity, graphic death, language, etc).
I infer that you are against limits on speech broadcast on TV and radio?

Here's an example. Laura Loomer is now all about getting people fired for their reaction to Charlie Kirk's murder. She seems completely fine with cancel culture. But then I say, "But Laura, what about this tweet where you said cancel culture was the worst thing ever, un-American, etc, etc." That whataboutism is meant to undercut HER as a serious interlocutor (i.e., she's not making a good faith argument because she has shown herself to be unprincipled) and to show she is a hypocrite. For that purpose, it's a great argument.

And here's an example of the suspect use:

Me: Charlie Kirk is a racist for reasons A B and C.
You: But Joe Biden did blah blah blah racist thing.

I'm not Charlie Kirk. I'm just arguing that Charlie Kirk was a racist based on the things he said. Coming in with a "But what about Joe Biden ..." is not effective there because (1) I'm not Joe Biden, (2) I'm not defending any statement of Joe Biden, and (3) Joe Biden's statements are not at issue (the issue is whether Kirk is a racist). The topic of Joe Biden is introduced solely to deflect attention from the argument at hand.
Yea, there’s plenty of suspect use - like the example you laid out.

You omitted your own though, which is what I was referring to.

Them: Here’s the Left calling for violence
You: Well, here’s the Right calling for violence

I don’t necessarily have a problem with the rampant whataboutism on here. Whatever.
But I do get a kick out of those who denounce it on Sunday, and traffic in it on Monday.

BB is probably the most prolific on the board.

Thank you for the service. What was Iraq like for you?

I know plenty that have made great careers and make a lot of money now doing nothing, it can definitely be a good career choice just not sure I’d recommend for my child but understand those that do. In your experience does it seem like people who don’t know what they wanna do out of HS stick around long term or end up leaving after their first contract?
It sucked. I was told to go. So I went.

I didn’t intend on doing 20. I only joined to do something after HS. Ended up liking it.

Most don’t retire, hence why they
changed the retirement system about a decade ago.

I'd have to see which one you're talking about. There are other valid rhetorical uses as well. For example, if Laura Loomer says "These Dems are so violent. Look at how they freely use the word fascist and say they're not upset Kirk got killed," and I point out that Don Jr. says and posts worse things (such as the Pelosi attacker Halloween costume), and she's a close associate of Don Jr, then I'm indirectly using it as a way to undermine her credibility and show that she's not focusing on something much worse within her own house.

Me - So he actually believed they were to dumb to succeed on their own merits?

WTH?????
Do you believe that he believed they were to dumb????? Because that seems to be exactly what you were saying in your first post.

Because that is the root of the whole discussion.
WTH what? Ask him. You were asking me.

Also, too. Too dumb. (I don't usually play the spelling nazi, but misspelling 'too dumb' across multiple posts is just a chef's kiss.

I believe he did believe that. He said so and I have no reason to believe otherwise--especially considering that one of them is a SCOTUS that has recently been called all but a dumb-*** by the other judges in joint opinions. Charlie didn't seem to be the only person on the planet that thinks they are dumb.

But that's the big point here. You would have to call him a liar and infer things that he didn't say in order to convince us that it was a racist statement. That's a losing proposition, basing the entire argument on your own personal incredulity--a personal incredulity that seems bent on thinking the worst of him.

And a personal incredulity that will invent motives to attack the integrity of a recently murdered man who can't defend himself. IMO, it's a **** look, but you do you.

Again, I'm not sure you have the brain power to understand at high enough level grasp it.
You're absolutely right! It's amazing I could have ever graduated with high honors with both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics. Even more amazing in the 30 years after that, with so little brain power, I moved up the ranks at Nissan as an analyst and middle manager, then was hired by General Electric as a corporate manager. I am glad Jack Welch made an exception for me. I suppose again, with so little brain power, I must have gotten lucky with money management that I could retire at 58. I must have been a reverse DEI case, given that I am a white male with so little brain power. 🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣

I defer to you on Charlie Kirk and his moderate views. I do appreciate you using your high level brain power to set me straight on the matter. Thanks!

I’m glad you too share my concerns

Not certain either company is doing great. Could explain a lot.

Very genuinely thought you were black and idk why.

You're worried that someone may do something stupid and try to hurt you merely because of words that you said?

That's it? And you can't see the irony?

(For the record... I hope no one does. And if they did, I could find empathy for you because I do not suffer from psychopathy. I hope your other personal information is not out there, and you remain safe in that echo chamber that fooled you into thinking that the rest of the sane world would cheer your psychopathy.)

I wasn't blaming anyone. Your whole first comment is BS since I rarely, if ever, play the blame game. I just was making a point of fact I thought you might believe was funny. Excuse me
The murder of someone who people keep saying used hate speech to justify that murder is one of the few things that I don’t see humor in. I knew very little of Kirk before his murder. So every time someone has lied on here about him….and they have been lies every time……I’ve looked up what he really said. So no @evillawyer does not get to say he was engaged in hate speech because he wasn’t. The people saying that are simply weak bitches that can’t handle a difference in opinion and Trump has never murdered anyone he disagrees with so it’s an apples to hand grandes comparison. And completely devoid of humor.

No excuse required

WTH?

He only said that about women who self-professed themselves to be DEI hires. Thus, the logic is: "Oh, so by your own admission, you didn't have the brain power to get the job on merit."

Again, he did NOT say that all black women lack brain power, nor that the specific ones he named lacked brainpower becasuse they were black. He was making the point that if they had the brain power to get the job, they n would not have had to have DEI give them an advantage over others. They could have gotten it on merit.

If he were a racist, we wouldn't need you race-mongers interpreting it for us. We could see it for ourselves.

Lies. Every time

It’s the game. They lie about was what said to justify the comments, when it takes 39 seconds to look it up and see what was really said. By the time someone posts the actual quote, they move onto something else.

I’m not playing the game anymore.

It’s not a both sides deal anymore.

I haven't made humor of his death nor have I tried to justify his murder. The guy should be locked up forever or put to death. The decision on which is decided is out of my lane
