Charlie Kirk Shot and killed

You must do zero gaming and are never on Discord. I hear it every time I play, and here’s a little secret…RARELY is it ‘whitey’ saying it.

I'm talking about the public square where we exchange ideas for modeling society, and you're talking about teenagers and stoners playing Call of Duty.

100% but businesses also have a right to employ who they want. A very dangerous game is being played right now
Of course businesses can fire your ass. The 1A affords us zero protection from our employers.

“Hate Speech isn’t Free Speech” was the mantra being echoed by the Safe Space Brigades just a few years back.

It was wrong then.
It is wrong now.

Game may not be the right word at least in the literal sense.

4 years ago it was conservatives getting cancelled, now it’s people calling Charlie Kirk a Nazi. It feels very herd mentality. Maybe it’s fear of losing business or maybe repercussions from the government. Shows mob rule can control speech
I understand. Thanks.

You're against consequences from employers for repulsive public sm comments?

Girl, you been whatabout’n up a storm in here.
There are, rhetorically speaking, valid and invalid uses of a whataboutism argument. If you're trying to point out the hypocrisy of your opponent, they're a good way to do that. But if you're trying to deflect from the argument at hand, they're suspect. Really depends on what you're trying to do with your rhetoric.

That's not what he said though. If the standards were lowered across the board, why would he not look at any pilot and wonder if they were actually qualified. Why would he say specifically a black pilot?
Well they didn't lower the standards for white males. They lowered.the standards so they could get to 50% women and African Americans.

Why would I advise my 18 year old to do something that risks their mental and physical health? Let’s ship you off to the Middle East because we miss handled things, and when you have PTSD it’s ok because we’ll give you some crappy healthcare

Now if they want to become a pilot I’d recommend the military though

My dad was military, I have quite a few friends that were also in or still in and grew up with some of my dad’s friends. Almost all of them have physical or mental problems
20 years Infantry. Spent 46 months in Iraq.

VA has been great in my experience (yes I get it varies). I make more than most (I’d venture to say you inculded) for merely waking up every day.

I would absolutely recommend the service to anyone who doesn’t know what they want to do. I did well is HS and didn’t want to go to college immediately. Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Austin Peay after retiring. Currently working on my MBA at LSU.

It is challenging, but not a detriment unless one chooses to let it be. No different than anything else.

I understand. Thanks.

No, I think businesses should be allowed to hire and fire anyone for any reason they want. I would prefer the businesses to respect speech tho, someone shouldn’t be fired for calling Charlie a Nazi or for saying a slur but I respect the businesses decision to do so

Is there speech which crosses the line and justifies a business terminating an employee?

It was four very public women who claimed to only be where they are because of DEI. Four women that Charlie Kirk repeatedly called dumb. PUBLIC women that Charlie had repeatedly said that he observed and found to be intellectually lacking.
Me - So he actually believed they were to dumb to succeed on their own merits?
You'd have to ask him.
WTH?????
Do you believe that he believed they were to dumb????? Because that seems to be exactly what you were saying in your first post.

Because that is the root of the whole discussion.

Because the Biden admin made a Racist Leftist policy that a certain % of pilots MUST be black. Same thing as racist Affirmative Action. Both are complete racist BS...only merit should determine who gets a job, scholarship, or college admission. Selecting candidates just because of their skintone to meet quotas is pure racism. But you already know this.

Why isnt there a policy to ensure "diversity" in those REALLY high paying jobs in the NBA and NFL? Because that would be super racist right? Thats different though somehow to liberals...

And which one are you engaging in when someone posts “the left is saying this”, and you respond with “well, look at the right saying that”? 🤷‍♀️

Here's an example. Laura Loomer is now all about getting people fired for their reaction to Charlie Kirk's murder. She seems completely fine with cancel culture. But then I say, "But Laura, what about this tweet where you said cancel culture was the worst thing ever, un-American, etc, etc." That whataboutism is meant to undercut HER as a serious interlocutor (i.e., she's not making a good faith argument because she has shown herself to be unprincipled) and to show she is a hypocrite. For that purpose, it's a great argument.

And here's an example of the suspect use:

Me: Charlie Kirk is a racist for reasons A B and C.
You: But Joe Biden did blah blah blah racist thing.

I'm not Charlie Kirk. I'm just arguing that Charlie Kirk was a racist based on the things he said. Coming in with a "But what about Joe Biden ..." is not effective there because (1) I'm not Joe Biden, (2) I'm not defending any statement of Joe Biden, and (3) Joe Biden's statements are not at issue (the issue is whether Kirk is a racist). The topic of Joe Biden is introduced solely to deflect attention from the argument at hand.

Thank you for the service. What was Iraq like for you?

I know plenty that have made great careers and make a lot of money now doing nothing, it can definitely be a good career choice just not sure I’d recommend for my child but understand those that do. In your experience does it seem like people who don’t know what they wanna do out of HS stick around long term or end up leaving after their first contract?
