The existance of God is not about scientific proof for human understanding. He calls us to believe if we choose to hear and accept. He programmed us to be creatures of choice, not robots. However, I'd personally consider that the discoveries of the old texts and scrolls over the years as a confirmation of the bibles in print we do have. I'd also contend that there have been things over time scientifically that have aligned with events in scripture. Kent Hovind is a good source to reconcile Scripture, History, Science, Archeology, etc. I get your path though. You're not the first to have been in and leave. I think there's a difference between seeing what certain people believe vs what they espouse to do about their beliefs. For instance if X religion believes Y religion is wrong for Z reasons that's really not a surprise given the context. Nobody should believe harm should come to those that don't believe as they do. As long as Kirk's (though it could be anyone) beliefs are consistent with the source material what are you gonna do? You can disagree of course but that's about it. Now all that changes when whoever starts not just saying what they believe about X but negative things should happen to those on the wrong side of they're beliefs. Citing "look what Kirk believed that's consistent with his religion" really isn't a particularly big flex.

I didn't really keep up with Kirk. Did he ever actually condone harm coming to gays/trans/etc? That would have much more traction.

100% agree, and no, every clip I ever saw of him he never wished harm on any individual. I have seen clips where transitioners asked his advice on medicines and such. And he said hey forget all that. Be very cautious about putting that into your body. But how about you start with the mind and get help and find a way to be comfortable with the body God gave you the way it is. And did so in an uplifting manner. I've seen clips and posts where indivisuals came out of transition because of him and how he spoke with them and just gave them truths. Was he perfect in eveything he did? Impossible. But he made every effort to champion for what's right and good, and finding common ground. But, he did call a spade a spade, but so did God. And abviously you will find content where people also reject and hate him for what he stood for both politically and in faith, and that has always been the case throughout history with chrisitians and always will be. Scritpure specifially teaches you will be persecuted for your faith. That may mean different things in different cultures and countries. From ridicule to death.
