I grew up in the church and was a fervent believer for half of my life. It is precisely the complete lack of evidence of his existence that finally convinced me to stop believing. I still am open to the idea that, if compelling evidence becomes available, I will reconsider my position.

Until then, any argument invoking God is a big nothing burger for me.

There’s a book called The Reason for God by Tim Keller that I would highly recommend for you to read. I mean that sincerely. Go into it with an open mind and see if the Lord might speak to you through that book. What you’re describing about needing evidence is the very definition of faith. John 20:29 comes to mind for me as well.
