Charlie Kirk Shot and killed

Exactly, you wanted him dead.

Brother, if it's anything anyone who knows me (here or in my daily life) is that I'm not afraid of expressing my feelings about something, regardless of its morbidity and poor optics.

I don't care if you think that, but I assure you I was more focused on renting a moving truck and swing trading stocks yesterday than I was on CK getting shot in the neck.

They aren't going to make it that easy to identify conspirators... dude was literally in the camera shot with CK. Which means he likely was part of TPUSA and assisting CK. Anything else implies an inside job.

I mess with my ball cap all the time. It's just something people do.

Immediately after the second completes his sequence the shot fired. That was edited out. But, I have seen the unedited where the shot was fired exactly as the second guy finished his arm signals. One doing hat and ears, the second doing arms. Could be a nothing burger, but sure looks weird. These two are supposedly not part of CK's empoyed security circle, but of hte few that were hired in for the event.

I totally get this is all conjecture, but the optics are strange.

Yes you do.

I think a big reason people are mourning is because of the movement he made in the younger generation. A lot of young people essentially grew up watching him. What other political speakers like him get tens of thousands to go listen to him on campus?

Oh i agree it will be 100% be used to justify more hate

Careful. The mental peanut gallery will be along to accuse you of celebrating his death by making that statement.

I'm not putting any thought into the engravings until the shooter is caught, could just be a "look over there" move by the shooter.

Peeps are gonna freak if it's a red herring and this guy turns out to have done it trying to stoke animosity between the two camps.

It's not a huge stretch.

I read a report that they have been able to track his movement leading up to the kill, so seems impossible that they won't be able to ID him. Must've picked him up on multiple cameras.

Holy hell how do they go from that old dude with his pants down to thus guy?! The FBI is all over the damn place.

The old guy is apparently someone known as a general nuisance to local police. It seems like he started acting up immediately after the shooting and they arrested him to keep him from interfering in the evacuation and investigation. I don't think he was ever a suspect.

Maybe I am alone in this, but I feel like i modulated only slightly compared to the partisans. Now, I am moderate by comparison. But it was 'they' who lurched further, not me.
Oh I’m thoroughly outraged by this. Not because it was Charlie Kirk but because it was any political pundit. Had it even been say Joy Reid being assassinated I’d be equally outraged because the process is exactly the same. Politically motivated assassination of an individual due to their ideals. And I chose Reid in my example for a reason because in that case it would absolutely be celebrated here. For the record Reid is batshit crazy and bigoted as hell.

allow an oversimplification, then.

there was impact. some impact was positive and some was negative.

Agree?

I guess though I'm struggling to clearly identify the positive impact or gauge it's relative balance. Maybe it's an issue of means and ends.

I'll return to my original point - the adoption of the fringe ideas greatly exceeded the proportion of the population that held those beliefs. Call it fear, idea amplification, desire to not offend or whatever but these fringe ideas went into practice more broadly than one would expect.

I admired Anthony Bourdain. Did his death create a void in my stomach? No.

Did a school shooting in a town I was living in do that? Yeah.
I get what you're saying and I liked the guy too. But hanging yourself due to depression and being gunned down because you engage in debate with others is a different animal.
