He was demonized by "the left" because he refuted their opinions from a conservative perspective.

This was an assassination. It didn't occur in a political vacuum.

Both sides are completely ****ed on this question. We have a system set up where this is the natural conclusion. Our politicians on each side have an incentive to divide us because it maintains the duopoly power. It's how they get away with never being better than the lesser of two evils. It's how they get away with basically all the BS they do. Solving problems is not a great way to divide us. Never solving problems, and continuing to use them to divide is a great way to maintain power. The people never had a chance.

Kirk led by example what America and the concept of free speech should be: respectful and peaceful discussions about ideas with people you disagree with.

Unfortunately, some people assume a moral high ground by demonizing those they disagree with when no ground is to be had, it’s just a difference of opinion. But they feel so threatened by someone who doesn’t think like them that resort to violence. Sad state we’re in right now.

i never watched those either. Didn't think I was gonna see what I did today. I've got no fear of blood and have seen my own muscle fat and bone but something about seeing it happen to someone in a violent manner gets me.

I confess when I was young I was a bit of a sadist and I can remember beating the absolute hell out of another kid so bad his parents called horrified at what I'd done and i think about that all the time, and wonder what kind of person I am. BUT I can't fathom drawing down on a human being I dont have some kind of blood oath against and shooting them in cold blood for some belief they or I hold, crackpot or not

Seeing his split second of reaction chilled me

I would have once agreed with you; but I’m done. Poor Mr. Kirk never changed any of his opponents’ minds as far as I can tell. And in the end; they shot him for his trouble.

It was made political when the left told its base to get in the face of conservatives, to harass conservative at restaurants. They bring a knife you bring a gun. You hit him low. It's been political since Trump was elected in 2016. We are way past that

I heard he was arrested for OOJ and only few feet from stage.
even more bizarre, he was saying Shoot Me as he was being arrested..obviously he has issues.
