Charlie Kirk Shot and killed

Not to be callous towards the man, but why do so many of you feel an emotional connection to Charlie or his murder?
Not ashamed to admit it at all but I subscribed to his channel years ago. I didn’t agree with everything he said but imo, he was right on a lot of things that are hot topics of discussion that are currently wrong with this country. He reminds me of people I go to church with that are younger and trying to raise a family .

He very well may be a pathetic ass, but have you ever seen a thread multiply this fast over any of the mass school shootings the past few years?
No, but you and I know that the individuals at the schools are nameless and faceless. Kirk is not. He’s not more important than any of the innocent children, but he is a very public and well known figure …. And he was assassinated on camera. Throw in the popularity and the visibility and you get many more comments and opinions

i don't have any particular feelings for or against him but i watched the video and have felt emotional about it since, anyone talking or even joking about killing people who merely talk about political beliefs needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and if they can't reconcile themselves with it and decide to change they should probably be in a mental hospital
The emotional component is what this may represent for discourse in our society?

Is that accurate?

Because all he did was go on campus and debate people.. he made a lot of liberals look stupid because he was a really good debater.. he never put people down or threatened them or anything of the sort.. he just really destroyed liberals with facts and infuriated them when he wouldn’t back down.. he was not a college graduate, so they liked to do a lit of people haired condescension toward him with their basket weaving degrees .. I think we are kind of all internalizing it that we are all supposed to shut up or we will be shot too.. and the Liberals that react on here kind of confirm that..a few are acting empathetic like normal humans ie Luther, but the rest are just flat out crazy

I think it’s more Democrats calling for violence against conservatives. Been called a Nazi by the left. Been called a threat by the left. Charlie was also doing a lot good with the youth in the country
Your emotional about calls for violence and this may be a sign those calls are being heeded?

Try to head shot a deer at 200 yards while feeding/ moving. Not easy and I regularly shoot 500+ yards.
Don't forget elevation. His tent was in a kind of "bowl" so that adds to the drop of the shot came from an elevated position like a roof that's being reported.

I don’t have an emotional connection with him other than seeing him as a human being and thinking about his children, family and friends. It angers me though to think some mentally disturbed idiot shot him out of hatred because of his political beliefs.

I’m not so sure that people do feel an “emotional connection” to Charlie Kirk himself or his murder, I do however feel that many have an “emotional outlook” about what it symbolizes about the state of this country and world and about what this murder will lead to. It’s all but assured that this murder just created at least a few million more Charlie Kirks.

For me, it’s just the image of a man sitting on stage talking and suddenly hit with a kill shot. It’s just troubling that anybody gets gunned down for an opinion.
If larger and larger groups of people feel oppressed and demonized by others… violence inevitably follows.

I’ve seen people compare this to MLKjr… MLK got in people’s faces (figuratively) and advocated for peace and equality. Kirk got in people’s faces too, but was he advocating for the same kind of thing?

No one should die from gun violence except where it was absolutely required in self-defense. However, if I had to choose who would die from gun violence between a kid just trying to go to school and learn who gets gunned down by a mass shooter and a blow-hard far-right political instigator who made his entire living off of raising the political temperature to where it is is now and who said that gun violence is a worth it as the price of admission for having the second amendment, I know which lesser of the two evils I would choose.
So someone who engaged those who disagreed with him with EXTREME restraint and civility is worthy of death because you don't like what he said. Gotcha. You just expressed to a T the mindset of people who rationalize these kinds of attacks. You, far more than Kirk, are the one "raising the political temperature".

You have leaders of the Democrats calling people Nazis, fascists, enemies of "democracy", etc. Not just people on social media but the LEADERS of the party. They are demonizing those who disagree with them using the very same methods that Hitler and Mussolini used 100 years ago.

I think it was a wake up call that there are people who will try silence you. We think we’re beyond that in this country outside of a nut here or there.

Obviously we’re not.

It’s lit a fire, we will see how long it lasts.
