I dont know how indicative my kids are at 17yo and 24yo...since they have been always raised in Church and have the same beliefs as Charlie. Both of mine are very sad and very frustrated and probably a little scared at least my 17yo daughter anyway. This is a BIG deal to our Church family and especially the youth. He dedicated his life to students/kids and leading them to sharpen their beliefs.
My wife has been crying.I didnt watch but my daughter did on accident and called me crying. She just saw the tag line that he had been shot and pressed play not thinking it was the actual footage. Wish I could pray that image out of her mind but I cannot. She has a Beyond the Basics Bible study class after church tonight. Hope she skips it and comes home so I can comfort her.
Edit: I trust that God can comfort her better than I ever could. I just selfishly want her with me because she is upset.

You need helpNo one should die from gun violence except where it was absolutely required in self-defense. However, if I had to choose who would die from gun violence between a kid just trying to go to school and learn who gets gunned down by a mass shooter and a blow-hard far-right political instigator who made his entire living off of raising the political temperature to where it is is now and who said that gun violence is a worth it as the price of admission for having the second amendment, I know which lesser of the two evils I would choose.
"Silly" ... Oh the horror! Polarization and de-humunization at the highest level!Well yeah, that was the point of that anecdote. I don't watch that much of him, but I do see him being condescending and dismissive, like when he called the kid's argument "silly" when he didn't have a response.
Edit: It's an impossible ask to be cool and calm and collected all the time when your profession is debate. I'm admittedly too aggressive with debate, which is a big reason why I almost completely avoid it in my personal life. I'm not saying he was a very antagonistic guy comparing him to his profession. I do think he had some opinions that are especially distasteful.
I wish "you guys" would recognize that the left wing rhetoric that convinces people they are victims justified in taking revenge and that labels people with different beliefs as "Nazis", fascists, and such is the DIRECT cause when people like this one... the MN shooter, Ft Hood shooter, Nashville shooter, two people who tried to assassinate Trump, etc... decide to "kill the next Hitler".
The Democrats today are using propaganda and projection EXACTLY like Hitler and Mussolini did on their rise to power in the 1920s.
Leftists even now are claiming that Charlie engaged in "hate speech" that caused him to be shot. Across social media, you are seeing A LOT of leftists expressing that sentiment. His "hate speech" was to disagree with leftism.
PS- I am "worked up" about the left's influence on unstable people that has caused most of the recent school shootings... as well as their impact on culture and morals that have contributed to gang violence that kills a lot more people each year than school shootings.
It’s foretold in the Bible. It feels like the onset of the tribulation. Look at how Christianity is relentlessly attacked (oddly enough by many people that throw up a Christmas tree every year), where right is wrong and debauchery is more or less celebrated, with the obvious lack of regard for life from today’s events to school shooting to murders on subway trains, the political elite enriching themselves while this country is starting to rupture and its financial footing all but eroded, the geopolitical issues between countries that push us closer to the edge of a world war, the internal convulsions of countries that have failed to protect their citizenry, but clamp down harder on them when they protest their politician failing them in favor of woke liberalism. It’s not a promising future.America...hell the WORLD needs a great reset! Its so far gone now. Unless God divinely intervenes and we see a huge spiritual awakening, I'm afraid its lost forever! May my young kids forgive me for bringing them into this horrible world. I love them, but sometimes I truly question whether or not my wife and I made the right decision.
