Charlie Baggett paid 425K to Retire...

Says the magic 8-ball.....

The guy asked which was better on paper. So - there you go. Doesn't mean that they will be worse. Obviously HH had a history of sending a bunch of Illinois olinemen to the league and had coached in the NFL - but he was below average while here... Pittman's resume can't really compare. That's just 1 example.

Staff has been upgraded significantly. Staff was thrown together in a hurry 2 years ago. Baggett got over $400 K per his contract when he left. Doesn't matter why, it was in his contract. Baggett may have been right on his opinions based on the results of last season. Doesn't matter now. Baggett is yesterday like Fulmer, Majors, Clawface, the Chief, Wilcox, Santos, Peters, Bryce Brown, Kiffin, Oregeron, Monty, etc., etc.

What matters now is what happens now. New AD. Full, talented roster. New start. New attitide. Just win - a lot.

How is it an upgrade? Jay Graham is the only significant upgrade I see right off the bat. Wilcox had a lot more experience than Sunseri has had at the DC position - but I think he can do well in year 2 and beyond.. and be better than Wilcox.. but you can't just claim it without seeing anything from the guy cause Wilcox left and now Sunseri is our guy.

I was just watching channel 8 news and they were showing a clip of CCB coaching at a practice. From what I could gather he was teaching blocking or something of that nature because of how he was using his hands. While he was talking and demonstrating, he put his hands on Da'rick's chest (again, just demonstrating/coaching) and Da'rick slapped his hand away. I hope Hinshaw demands more respect.

That's one reason why Baggett didn't see eye to eye with Dooley - he wasn't allowed to discipline Da'rick because Dooley let his boy run wild. So probably won't be any different and if it is it will be because Da'rick decided to grow up.

I didn't wanna believe that whole ordeal that was going around at the end of the season but I just seen it. But I haven't seen any indication that Da'rick plans to mature. Hopefully with the newfound depth, he will see he isn't a huge necessity like he was last year and he will give that whole growing up thing a go.

Baggett did not get along well with the other members of the staff and created some disharmony this past season. He rarely agreed with the other offensive coaches. It was best that he left.

Idiot. We could have never laid 10 on UK doing it his way. :birgits_giggle:

Are you sure it wasn't part of practice? Like shedding DBs or something? I've seen them all do that in practice...

A clip showing a player physically and dismissively slapping a coach's hand away would have ran nonstop in this town and made it to PTI/CFB Live/etc...

I recall hearing on a local radio station that Baggett was having some recruiting trip issues. As an example they used a Memphis trip that he was reported to be on that he either did not make or did not go to where he was scheduled to be. They also stated that this was not the only instance of him not being where he said he was.

Of course, with the way reporting has gone lately it could be simply biased and unfounded rumor.

How is it an upgrade on paper? I'm not really seeing it.

Oline coach on paper is worse than HH - but HH was pretty bad on the field.. while Pittman fielded below overage running blocking lines at UNC.

RB we upgraded... obviously CJG > a graduate assistant.

WR coach was a downgrade on paper although I know Hinshaw will do fine.. and since we lost Hinshaw as QB coach I think it's a slight downgrade there...

Losing Thompson/Sirmon is a big loss...

Trading Wilcox for Sunseri is a slight upgrade imo.

The special teams and RB are the only two position we really got a significant upgrade.
We made a huge upgrade at OL coach. He can put sentences together and make a statement without it sounding like he asking a question!

No wonder the OL didn't know which side of the line plays were being called. :)

Hush money, and incomplete story by the Sentinel initially, and the unknown truth still lingers out there.

Think my vol fan friends, Why would four members of UT's staff leave without public notice of intent to keep them with a raise? Dooley wanted some in-complacent members of his staffs to leave, so he probably wanted Baggett to leave so he can hire Jay Graham. He needed a runningback coach to teach the runningbacks to hit the hole and make some quicker moves. The same can be applied to Hiestand also.

Soooo...bagget was fired, and didn't quit because Dooley was navigating a 'sinking ship', as all the negavols told us.

Turns out bagget was the negative influence.

Good riddance.

Dude, he was teaching him technique. Stop being an idiot.

And you know this...how? Nothing reported at all about him being a bad influence. Could have been an argument between him and Dooley over DR, or anything. None of us know what it was.

Washington - they have a lot of time left there.. where as Dooley has 1-2 years.

Washington State - 4 more years minimum since that staff was just hired.

ND - they're not going anywhere for awhile.

Alabama - enough said.

You should hurry up and move to one of those states and support their team! Really! Hurry!! "Dooley 1-2 years". Dooley might have 17 years! You probably know a lot more about fishing than you do football, bassman, maybe you could join a fishermans forum?

What we DO know is that he was fired. he DIDN'T 'jump the sinking ship', as the trolls alleged.

And if Dooley wanted him gone, that's good enough for me. Good riddance.

If the AD isn't going to renew the contracts of Wilcox or Sirmon or the other 4, thats not coaches leaving a sinking ship, thats coaches finding a new job to support their self and families and the university wanting to find coaches they feel will be better for the program.
