Charles Mosley and Dimarya Mixon no longer with team

Anyone here really surprised?

Gotta make room somewhere

Honestly? No. I don't believe this was Mixon's first disciplinary issue, and Mosley busting his leg in a car wreck set him back. But that doesn't mean I like it. I value the team, and that means I value every single individual on the roster. So, no matter how much room needs to be made, cutting them loose still sucks. Always has, always will.

Wasn't Mosley from Memphis area? If so, we have a real bad track record with Memphis athletes. When was the last great UT athlete from Memphis...Whitten perhaps?

Too bad he broke his leg just before arriving at UT. Who knows how good he could have been?

Big Charles Mosley was a good kid though, I wish him the absolute best.

Witten is from the other end of the state.

Charles is from Brighton. It is West Tennessee, but not actually in Memphis. I remember Charles being the one guy who made a run at someone who took a pick 6 back on us last season. Moved pretty well for such a big man. That gave me hope for him.

I'd venture to guess that if he had shown the slightest sign of progress at either position then he'd have found a home at one of them.

You all may be right the he just sucks but I remember when he committed it was a big deal and I have heard "he move well for his size" while practicing on the OL and plenty of praise from the OL when he had to step in on the DL during the spring practices because of injuries. With that said, neither the OL or DL has played well under CBJ and therefore we have new OL and DL coaches.

Yes, he was a nice get. We beat out Bama for him. He just never panned out. Weight was an issue, as was the car accident that left him with a broken leg as a freshman.

Wow...just keeps getting better.

It's just March when spring practice is over 2 or 3 more will leave because they think they should be starter and then fall camp 1 or 2 will get there feelings hurt's just a bunch of spoiled brat's.:thud:

Just a bit outside! One more strike and I' getting booted from this thread.

I thought he was from Germantown. I guess that is a ways from Elizabethton.

I'd much rather be from East Tennessee than the West side of the state too.

I may end up retiring there. This thin, dry air and ever increasing cost of living is making me rethink about that. Not many bugs though.

A larger recruiting class? Moseley did nothing while here. Mixon had some decent plays, but was not a world beater. Reload, try again with new bodies. Par for the course in college football.

still need two more players to leave before in coming class reports in August. we are at 87.. this is just weeding out players..

Yeah a lot of transfers happen right after Spring Training. We will be vulnerable to losing a QB or two.

On the flip side, we can now take in a grad transfer or two to beef up some key positions: CB, DL, WR.

I am disappointed that Moseley didn't pan out. I bought into the hype when he signed on. Maybe he can go somewhere else and move to tight end.

No, I don't think we were a good team. But I have been told for the last 4 months that I am a complete buffoon because obviously we didn't have enough depth to compete with Vandy. So I'm hoping one of those people can tell me how that's possible, but now we can just afford to let players go.

To break it down for you: last year, our overall roster was around 74. In addition to being down approximately 11 players, we had close to 20 injuries. Now, our roster is over the 85, so we have to make cuts.

As far as not beating Vandy, not only were we down key 1st stringers, but we were down 2nd stringers. So, guys that should have been our depth were forced to grind out games with little relief. Guys that weren't ready for the load they were forced to carry.

Looks like Coach Hoke already cleaning house of the guys that want to be here and work the ones that don't...

Attrition happens everywhere and with every program. Guys never pain out and get recruited over. Unfortunate, but still we'll be fine. All part of that 30+ class, you should realize it will happen. This is probably only the beginning.

Mixon probably would have been a significant contributor.

Attrition happens everywhere. At UT under Jones it has been higher than average and included players who were due to contribute or who were getting PT.

Maybe they didn't quit? Maybe it was discipline. But not a good sign if two more guys just walked away.

Big Charles did seem to be our go to guy for eating contests at bowl sites so he did contribute. Going to need someone to step up now.

Mixon has been suspended for months. He didn't just walk away.

Obviously Mosleys departure was all completely Butch's fault. It had absolutely nothing to do with the kid possibly just not panning out. Butch enjoys moving a kid around just to ruin his football career. 🙄

Your the guy who gets moved when your buried on the depth chart. Who's fault is it? Player. If the player can contribute the position coach will want to keep him. Could be Strip gave up on him.
