Where position do you think he will play? Like Running backor fullback? Thought maybe we could use him like the rutgers used brian leonard :eek:k:

This guy is good, but I highly doubt you will ever see him as our feature back...imo, he would make a great linebacker and where he needs to be.

With out lack of depth at FB, and two very capable FB's, he really needs to try LB to begin with.

I know he said in interviews he was coming here to play fullback but he's a great athlete I'd like to see him at linebacker. We have way too many good runningbacks as it is to play him there. He could get on the field much earlier at FB or LB. He'll likely redshirt either way and be a 3 year starter at FB once Cooper and Johnson are gone.

I think he can play fullback and I would imagine we will have a few 1 back sets out of shotgun.

He seems like the perfect athlete to put back there for blitz pickup but is also versitile enough to run a screen, draw, or work in the passing game.

Not every running back is cut in the mold especially with some of the 3-4 schemes that are becoming more predominant and require much tougher blitz pickup.

I think he's too athletic to just be a FB. I think they ought to give him a shot at LB. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where he ends up

If he doesn't have good to great hands put him at lb. We have 2 good fb's with 2-3 years left.

Cooper will be a Sr, Johnson a Jr.
With this in mind, he definitely should stay at FB. He can redshirt and be a three year starter. Plus I dont think there is such thing as "too athletic" to play any position in football. If we need a fullback play him there. We could run some screens with him or dump it off to him in the backfield and he could be dynamic.

Channing was one of the best RB's ever in Ky.He was also the TOP vote getter this season for 1st team All-State defense. He can play anywhere he is needed. He prefers offense. That's why he chose the Vols.He was promised to play Hybrid FB.He had many other offers and came to Tennessee because of Kiffin's promises of offense.Hopefully Dooley will use him in that way.By the way....in Ky. his nickname was The Big Horse.Just thought I'd throw that in.Maybe it will stick here too.

Does anyone know if Fugate got hurt his senior year? His stats were less than half of what they were his Junior year.

Yes he hurt his hip(just a bad bruise) early in the season and was out about 4 games. He didn't have to carry the team as much his senior year either. In his junior year his QB; who also was a rushing threat had an injured hamstring and we went alot of games that year in the "WILDCAT" with Channing taking direct snaps and really carried the team to the state finals (literally) while our QB healed up.
