While JG is not good, we see why he is playing. The probability he gives us to win is small, but still greater than the other QBs. It sucks to admit, but JG is the most developed QB on the roster.
Some of you will say play HB, but then after the season talk about the record. BM is not comfortable in the pocket, HB has no game awareness. JTS doesn't seem to know what color jersey to throw to. 2020 can't end soon enough.

Fire away.

Coach didn't give any of the backups time to settle in. And we only called running plays for Maurer til they scored again.

Then when we finally went to Bailey it was too late. You don't do that to a freshman. If you were going to play your Freshman you play him before Maurer. You don't throw him in there with a few minutes left in the game and tell him to pull off a miracle.

This coaching staff needs to go or Pruitt just needs to suck it up and ride with Bailey for the rest of the season and let's see what he's got. You can't see what the kids got when you throw him in the game down by a few touchdowns with a few minutes left in the game....

Lol

You WANT it to be so......therefore you have blinders on.......and it’s so.

Look, there is no way in heck to gather anything from HB. He came in there and they had him hand it off over and over and over. Then you make him throw it on 4th for the game......that’s not on him.....that’s on the coaches.

Then you give him a minute and a half to try and go all the way down the field........when you haven’t allowed him to pass even 10 yards downfield.

Other than the coaches suck......we didn’t learn a dang thing!

All the backups did was hand the ball off. And they’ve never had a week to prepare with the 1’s. The only time we ever see any other player come in is when we’re losing late in a game and the opponent has all the momentum. Then to make matters even worse...when the back up comes in all we do his hand the ball off. Man, this is the worst coached Tennessee team we’ve ever seen guys. Pruitt is a decent defensive position coach and a hard worker. But he’s just not an intelligent guy and never should be managing an offense.

I don't believe Pruitt expected Bailey to pull off a miracle and win the game. He was simply getting reps. It is times like that everyone, including Pruitt, is looking for a spark or just a couple of good decisions and throws. I think you are reading way too much into what was going on. JMHO

Playing HB now will give us more total wins between now and the end of next year. If we sit him this year, the Pruitt's excuse will be thst we have a QB with no experience (assuming JG is not here next year). Who are we going to beat this year besides Vanderbilt. If we play HB, he will improve quite a bit over the course of the next few games... maybe even from one half to the next.

I dont blame the back ups for anything really.

Maurer comes in the middle of the third quarter when Arkansas has all the momentum in the world and our playcalling for him was very suspect and the running game stopped working for him. Got rattled against the Arkansas zone. I know, I'm partial to Maurer, but I mean I'm not sure he's actually as bad as he was last night. He didn't play nearly that clueless all of last year.

Bailey was helped by the run game. Showed his arm with that one pass down the middle to I think Johnson.

I still would rather we roll with those two. Give them the first team reps. Not gonna get much more out of JG sadly. Maybe JG leans on our running game and makes a couple throws and we come back yesterday? Idk. I just don't wanna judge BM and HB that much because they need more attention in practice. More of an indictment of coaching. They should be more ready.

They were playing hurry-up and Arkansas was in prevent defense, letting nothing down the field.
I don’t think you can accurately determine how Bailey would perform based on yesterday.

Thing is, our other qbs are being put in under extreme pressure. Id like to see HB play start to finish

I think more people are wondering where the development is in these players. He’s had JG for 3 years now, he’s still horrible.

I think it would be the best move Pruitt could make now. Get HB all the experience possible. Remember Manning ? He came in about 4th-5th game of season unexpectedly, due to injuries of 2 QB's ahead of him and he had very little experience. He started playing more consistent ball in about his 4th game. A young freshman normally has to go through an adjustment period. Chaney and Pruitt should both know this. Another good reason is HB automatically get's a free red-shirt.Pruitt's made statements along the lines that he's afraid he may damage the kid's psyche......etc. The game is evolving and leaving Pruitt and Chaney behind. Plain and simple. Just identical to what happened to Fulmer. Too set in their old-school philosophies of the ground and pound when the reality is everywhere around you.........offenses are spreading the field and forcing defenses to adjust.

We saw it last night with Kendal Briles, Arky's OC. Arky will be on the rise when they get a fast QB with a half decent arm and we'll be on that hind tit as usual because of philosophical issues with our AD and HC.

Correct. Arky was allowing that short dump-off to keep the clock moving and it worked.

It’s not just one player or one position....The whole team is unprepared to play. I thought Dooley and Butch were two of the worst coaches I had seen—anywhere—but you can add Pruitt as the third.

This is simply one of the worst coached, worst prepared teams I’ve seen play anywhere. It’s as if they have received no instruction in the entire time they’ve been at UT. Simply shocking how bad this staff has performed this year.

Maurer is worse than JG. And it's not even close lol. Bailey though, who knows. Let the kid play.

So you expected Maurer to come into the game, with near zero playing time in 2020, while JG gets all of the first team reps in practice and light it up? With this coaching staff preparing him?

Really, that's what you expected?

I think we finally see now it's the receivers not getting open/separation
Arky has the best DB's in the conference. The freshman grabbed Palmer after Palmer put a double move on him and would have either a long reception or TD and they just got a 15 yd. penalty. All our QB's had time to look downfield and everyone was covered. We don't have a good receiving TE. Our routes are known to every DC in the conference by now. Need to start playing with very few set routes and improvise each play. Receivers just need to find space with a QB who has good field vision.

Arkansas does not have the best defensive backs in the SEC. kellen Mond lit them up going 21 of 26 for 260 yards and three touchdowns last week.

They may be well coached, but talent-wise they are not the best.

Nor do you have him hand the ball off then attempt his first pass on 4th down. I've been trying to be patient with Pruitt but good Lord...
