You spend all spring and fall camp installing your offense and working on it, let's just for giggles say Butch said we need to install more of a prostyle set and lots of playaction...how long would it take? Just because I have never coached a day in my life....no chance to add it mid season....

I assume at this point you kind of have to dance with the one that brought you.

This. May be able to add a lead blocker for Hurd or something simple like that. Put Bryant or Bates back there.

Couldn't install a whole new offense , but it seems like they could at least add a few wrinkles to keep teams guessing a lot more. Some of these line problems are because teams are jumping the snap and swarming toward the ball carrier. It's too predictable and teams know what is coming right now. Keep 8, 9 near the line of scrimmage and take your chances on the outside is how you defend this team. Everyone has film, we never change it up so they know what we're running.

Agree. Maybe run some two TE sets from time to time, which they did do some with one dropped back.

We're not changing our offense. Not because of the time it would take because our staff doesn't want to.

I feel confident that we have not seen all of our "wrinkles". I'm betting we'll see some lead blocker concepts next week (I formation?...etc). We need to run down hill Saturday...try to attack their d-line. We need Hurd running down hill...not laterally looking for cutback lanes.

We passed the ball to the TE a few times this week. That was nice. Actually gained positive yards..

It's not rocket science. If the coaches would get their heads out of their azz and mix in some I- formation with a fullback ( Jakob Johnson) Hurd, Kamara and Kelly would get hit in the backfield every time they touch the ball. Also could use some play action. If our offense doesn't improve DeBord must go at the end of this season.

When you said time frame I had a different thought. In the fourth quarter we get the ball back leading by 9 with around 8 minutes to go. Instead of milking the clock we were still in the hurry up and snapping the ball with 20 or seconds on the clock. The Vols wound up with about 3 first downs but short yardage and had to punt back I believe with 5 or 6 minutes left. Not smart IMO. We should have been able to run out the clock with competent OL play and Dobbs and Jones being smarter. That may come back to bite them on the arse soon.

Not sure i'd wait til the end of the season.. Not sure Debord is the main problem but if the Vols play these next 4 games like they've played the first 3, they'll be 3-4 and the fan base would be in a very sour mood at that point.. They have to change something and quick.. What we've saw will not get it done in league play. They'd be lucky to go 4-4 the way they're playing.

It would really help if we had an offensive coordinator who didn't continuously lose track of his play makers and an offensive line that wasn't looking as bad as they did as freshmen.

What they could do is allow qd to have 1 series every 4 possessions. It'd give the defense a different look and allow us to really attack down the field. Being that dobbs is a senior and is a great runner I don't think it would create a controversy.

If I was Butch I would do some soul searching and examine my offense and come to the conclusion,,,,this will not work. If I keep doing the same things the way I have always done them and expect different results....it will cost me my job. Maybe not this year or even next but eventually my legacy will be tarnished because I was too stubborn to adjust the strategy to play winning football.

This will probably get removed, just like my last post, but I have seen video of the lineman in practice. I have seen, and will not say names, a lineman dominate other O lineman and D lineman. But you never see these videos released by the school. The only video ever shown is when he got dominated by what was supposed to be their golden boy. And the angle doesn't show the right side of this kid with his right hand completely in a cast because its broken. The media is only allowed, this year, in at certain times during practice. And that's what they want to be seen. Coaches won't say why, but they put players in there that are buffoons, they get knocked down by 250 lb D linemen from what should have been an inferior team, but all we hear is they are improving every week. They refuse to play the ones that could make a difference but they are too stubborn.

Really, this is interesting. Could cost his job eventually.

This. I don't understand because I know he is smart enough to realize this. Or maybe not?

There comes a point when they have to see the same thing the fans do and say...it's just not working. Not saying a complete overhaul but surely a few different sets couldn't be that hard install

Yes there comes a time, but this staff won't believe that time has come until we are 3-4.

I'm tired of "Coach Speak " tell us what is really going on. Stop saying "We are still working on fundamentals" Tell us what it really means, if it means anything at all, or just a way to pacify the fans.

Were 100th in total offense and haven't played a single SEC team yet. Let that sink in.

I love a good conspiracy theory.
