Changing conference?

I'll be in for helping getting him to a game. I'll supply the BBQ since the shine, drugs & rock n roll are all taken care of :0)

No offense, but it is kind of like saying Liverpool should go play in Championship or League 1 for a few seasons so they can get back into the top 4.

There is just no way in heck it could or should ever happen. A move from the SEC is like that.

stephenk24 this would be like saying Liverpool should have just gone and played in the MLS so they could get a few W's and rebuild

being in the SEC is more than just a football conference - it is part of your identity - we've been in the SEC before WW2

and btw we will compete this year and last were in the title game in 2007 - its not like we've been out of it for 20 years

Eerie.

Other schools are on a waiting list to get in the SEC. No one in their right mind would leave.

First I will admit that I didn't read this entire thread because I don't have a lot of time and I'm sure you've gotten several helpful responses as well as several scathing comments. I apologize if my response is a repeat of another post but let me make this answer as concise as I can while illustrating a point. Our Ladies basketball program is/has been the best program in the nation for one reason and one reason only: the only way to ever truly know how good you are is to test yourself against the best. The Lady Vols play the best ladies basketball teams in the country EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Our football program has the opportunity to test itself against the best football programs in the country every year. Champions do not run from a challenge by changing conferences. We may not always get the results we want by playing the highest level of competition, but at least we get a true measure of how good our team is. As I'm sure many have alluded to, the SEC is a priviledge. Hope this seems helpful and not condescending.

Tennessee is an all time winning program only 2nd to Bama with sec titles. WE R THE SEC. you guys just need to look at our history, players, wins , and traditions and give it a bit, bama just got out of a decades of being in the wilderness so please quit crying and overeacting. Its pathetic .We will be back soon.

Why should I lock it? It's just me asking a question... I don't want to be shot at dawn for it.

I'm pretty new to college sports, so I am still learning how it works on the job really.

if you like on the job training vote for obama in 2012

the sec is the place to be and be proud to be, if we were to move the acc would be the right choice for us due to competion level and fan base, but who would want to step down in sports, not this vol:)

Tennessee is (and will always be in my eyes) SEC. UT leaving SEC would be like Yankees leaving NY!!!!

Hey,

Just wondered if anyone thinks it would be beneficial for us to change conferences while we rebuild. Surely the fact that we are in the SEC means we have a harder time each year because we have to play NC contenders?

I could be wrong, but don't you think that moving to the Big 10 for instance would be better suited for us, we would be able to win lots of games, and then when we become a contender we could move back.

We could still keep our rivalry games with Bama and Florida right?

I am sorry if my knowledge is rubbish, and that this could/would never happen. I was just thinking that maybe we would be better off in a slightly easier conference for the time being.

S

Put it this way, UT leaving the SEC would be like a member of the Royal Family leaving Buckingham Palace to go live in a flat in Derby. The SEC is the class of the league and UT is one of the all time greatest programs in NCAA history. Even though we are down right now, we are still a VERY important part of this conference. Leaving it now to go beat up on a group of weaker teams in an inferior conference would be a victory of zero substance. Make no mistake about it mate, UT will be great again!

This thread is pretty hilarious. First off I think it great to have a stalwart VOL in England. Stephen I was born in England myself. Father from Tellico Plains (for the local brethren) and mother from Kent so that makes me a polite hillbilly I guess. Everyone lighten up a tad. Stephen seems genuinely interested in UT. Glad to have you aboard and Go Vols!

Sorry if I offended someone with my comments,Stephen if you r a true Vols fan than apologies bro,I respect anyone who is a real fan and not a troll. My Maya cupa Go Vols
