No. Robertson is the best run blocker on the team as of right now. Kerbyson, Kendrick and Thomas are next best when all are playing their natural positions. Thomas is unique because his athleticism at center helps us a lot. Wiseman has a good mean streak and can get a decent push but there is a lot more to run blocking than just moving the guy right in front of you.

That is what hurts more than anything. Dallas Thomas was a failure at OT but was an AA at OG.

We have Hall and Richmond as natural OTs on roster and that's just about it. Blair was in that category but he's apparently bustier than Dolly Parton.

I haven't watched the replay to watch the OL but I did notice running up the middle did nothing.

Unless Blair simply does not know the plays or which way to turn, I'd like to see what he can do in a game on Saturday. Some guys don't practice well at all, but find a new gear during a game.

Hubert Simpson comes to mind. He only got to play against Notre Dame because the starting RB got hurt in the opening kick-off. He responded with a ton of yards and 3 TD's but then quickly went back to Johnny Majors' doghouse because he didn't practice hard. I'm all for rewarding hard work and work ethic, but I'm also think you try different things until you find one that works.

do you think it is coach Mahoney or the level of quality talent on the offensive line ?

remember most Offensive Linemen take a red shirt year to start with

to be honest I'm not sure as to who they are recruiting this year for the OL

You should really take time to watch the game and watch the individuals one-at-a-time instead of just listening to VN. Seriously, you will learn something and you will change your comments on VN.

Oh, well thank you for letting me know I am uninformed being that you know my credentials and all.

Anyway, My main concern is Wiseman's ability to block the second level. Like I said he can block down and get a decent push and all, but he struggles chipping LB's as well as with the 3 technique from what i've seen. But apparently I don't really know what i'm talking about, so take it with a grain of salt.

Ok agreed to take with grain of salt. Your credentials were revealed with the all too over used VN phrase "at their natural positions." Seriously, no offense, if you can get some time go back and watch the individuals one at a time in the OU game. It will be very enlightening .

Pretty much all I have for you is LOL there partner. As far as this thread goes I think I will take my analysis over yours any day of the week, and I believe VN would agree with me. But if you fancy enlightening me with a more detailed in-depth analysis of our line, or any player; then I am all ears buddy. Also, I frequently watch individuals DURING the actual game lol...as well as on the replay. These are just things that stuck out to me right off the bat; with plenty more on the replay....but thanks for the advice.

The bottom line to all of this is that if Dobbs had time in the 2nd half then Tennessee wins the game.

Until we improve our O-Line play we will continue to be a 6-6 or 7-5 program. The SEC is an O-line , D-line conference and games are won and lost in the trenches. Right now our O-line is in the bottom 1/3 of the conference which is where we will end up if something doesn't change. Weisman shouldn't be playing at ALL!

Again, after re-reading your posts and after spending all my life either playing, coaching or working with Olinemen all I can say is Watch them, analyze them for yourself, before you make public board opinions that prove you do not know what you are talking about. It will be enlightening. By the way, I have replayed and watched individually the OU game. It's a hobby. It takes a lot of time but after you do it you will understand for yourself and you will not get caught up in VN emotion and false statements. You can't possibly do a true evaluation during a game nor can u while watching the group because u get lost in the clutter. The only way is to watch one individual at at time and nothing else.

Having watched the OL during the replay, I would agree that Robertson is one of our better run blockers. He's athletic, got some good push. Wiseman also looked fairly good, got on bodies and seemed to know his assignment. Didn't get up to the second level much, but I think that was probably the fault of our blocking scheme this game...we seemed to be keeping the guards on a double team with the center rather than getting them up to the backer on almost all of our inside run plays. Thomas did not look very good in the run game. He had about 15-20 plays, including the very first play of the game, where he completely missed the guy in front of him and was either on his face or on his knees for the entire play.
And, unfortunately, none of these guys got the push when it mattered on the goal line. They also had a lot of trouble picking up d-line twists and stunts, giving Dobbs very little time...perhaps the lack of experience hurts us there.
