initiate meltdown now... seriously tho, we need to just put some rediculous buyout clauses in the contracts of all our coaches, asst coaches, position coaches, coordinators, announcers, cheerleaders, bartenders, mechanics, and teachers

Haha, one guy throws a name out, everyone else repeats it, therefore the rumor is believed to be of substance because "rumors are flying".

Lateral move at best if it happens. Im sure we can pony up the cash to keep him. If he is content in Knoxville, and with all the turmoil that came with the coaching change last year it seems he is, I dont see him leaving but i could be wrong.

I heard a credible rumor that Nebraska was after the chief cook in the athlete dorm cafeteria. We all know how important it is that these boys get strong, delicious, nutritious meals. We will never recover if we lose him. His salisbury steak is second to none and he has a pretty solid cobbler as well. The sky is falling.

Fbrumormill reports anything. Anything. I made the mistake of following them on twitter and no less than 4 people have been named as the new head coach at Pitt.

The "source" of this rumor was a caller on a sportstalk call-in show somewhere in Louisiana. The hosts didn't even know who Jim Chaney was, but they did some research and got a quote from Drew Brees about his time with Chaney at Purdue.

P.S. I just double checked to be sure and the sky is indeed not falling.

From ESPN:

Tennessee OC Jim Chaney was mentioned as a possible replacement for Gary Crowton on Wednesday during a radio call-in show. Chaney was inherited by Vols coach Derek Dooley, so we imagine that Dooley wouldn't be heartbroken if Chaney left. Chaney and Miles have never worked together but obviously crossed paths these last two years in the SEC.

More bad journalism :birgits_giggle:

Saw it on ESPN insider this morning: ESPN The Magazine's Bruce Feldman tweets that a source says that LSU coach Les Miles will look outside the program for his next offensive coordinator, which means that WR coach Billy Gonzales -- who left Florida reportedly because he wasn't happy about being bypassed for the OC job after Dan Mullen went to Mississippi State -- might be sending out resumes.

A user at TigerDroppings.com has been compiling a list of possible OC candidates since Dec. 1, and it includes the likes of TCU co-OC Justin Fuente, former Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB coach Steve Logan (a former Miles colleague at Colorado), ever-popular Wisconsin OC Paul Chryst and Jacksonville Jaguars WR coach Todd Monken (a former Miles assistant at Oklahoma State and LSU), among others.

FootballScoop.com says that Miles has interest in Fuente and Washington OC Doug Nussmeier, who is also on the TigerDroppings list.

More names as we hear them.

Im just happy that there has been so much interest in our coaching staff. A big difference from the latter years of the Fulmer era.

1) Jordan Jefferson vs Tyler Bray?
2) Jarrett Lee vs Matt Simms?
3) Stephen Rivers vs Justin Worley?
4) Les Miles vs Derek Dooley?

Reminds me of a few reporters around here. I believe we hired about 4 coaches last year as well...

He'll get a raise, then he'll stay. Fine by me. Of all the coaches, he and Baggett deserve raises imo.
