Chaney was a good guy and look what he did with Peterman. Turned him into a serviceable QB, which is more than anyone on Butch's staff could do.
Retaining Pittman and Chaney would have helped Butch with QB and Oline development and thinking outside his mid major offense.

And fwiw, I spoke with Pittman during the transition and he REALLY wanted to stay. As far as I know, he wasn't even interviewed.

Was Chaney better than Bajakian? Yes. Is Chaney better than Debord? No. I have already compared their offensive numbers ad nauseam and they are not even close. Did Chaney have some potent passing offenses? Absolutely he did but they could never run the ball consistently even with Pittman as his o-line coach and if you look at the qb's Chaney recruited, most were absolutely dreadful, including Peterman who by the way was his recruit. He was woefully underwhelming at Arky and did not improve the qb in any great leaps unlike many on here would claim which is why he was replaced. The only reason some of you "like" this hire is because you complain about every move CBJ makes, nothing more. If we had hired an OC that had just been replaced at Arky, and was stolen from Pitt this board would have imploded but since in your opinion he should have been retained by CBJ, if is now a genius move.

Everyone, we need to accept this. He's posted it ad nauseam because there's some on here that it hasn't sunk in for and they have a differing opinion. Please accept it so he doesn't have to keep posting the same thing ad nauseam.
