I'm assuming he will get to see the playing field at some point this season. Hopefully, not due to injuries but in the Vandy, South Ala games.
IMO he should leave as he is not a fit for our new offense, that is obvious at this point. Hate it for the kid. I'm thinking the odds of him staying after this year are 10% and only that high since he really loves being a Vol.
It's not his ability to run that is keeping him from the job. You don't have to be a great runner. You got to be able to get through the reads and have a strong arm to get it too them. You have to process fast, how fast he can run has nothing to do with it. Even Coach said you don't have to be a blazer to run his offense. GBO!!!!If you look at Milton & Hooker, neither one are elite passers but they both bring mobility to this offense.
It’s very possible JH knew the O-Line wasn’t one of our strengths this year and he had to have a QB that could do damage with his legs in order for the offense to sustain drives consistently.
Watching Bailey play, he’s not a threat to run with his legs and is limited offensively. Is he a better passer? Maybe but the O-Line is definitely not good enough to give Bailey time to make the necessary throws.
Most likely, Bailey won’t see the field unless Milton & Hooker go down with injuries.
What do you think of the relative performances of our QBs vs Florida, this year and last?

The question always will be if the guru coach had put as much time in Bailey as he did Milton, how good could Bailey be. It's fairly obvious that all the time put into Milton was a waste.
I think for some last year he became a savior to some. They were hoping he would come in and save Tennessee last year and they still do. I didnt dee anything special and think hooker is the best QB on the team.Bailey hasn’t looked good in his limited action in my opinion. Hooker appears to be the best option. Bailey looks like another bust for us

Stick to hoops Josh...this is a new offensive though process, Bailey was never going to start for this head coach. Under the old regime he probably would have had successIf you look at Milton & Hooker, neither one are elite passers but they both bring mobility to this offense.

I’ll agree with part and I also astoundingly disagree. His accuracy and touch on the ball is better than the both of them. I have a big issue with there decision making and hanging onto the ball to long. Putting the ball on the ground as a QB and not getting down before getting hit is also a major concern. Getting intercepted anytime isn’t good. But at critical moments in the game are no no’s. That’s what I’m watching AND those are the facts.! Everything else being said is opinionated here say. Mobility I have no problem saying that Hooker has proved to the better runner. He’s done okay but I don’t see that spark and confidence. I’ve watched players not being lined up right and not being set before the play. Part of the OLine issue is due to the rhythm and confidence in each and every play. Accuracy down the field is huge to hit the play get down and get lined up right and run the next play. That’s confidence and rhythm.! Facts facts and FACTSAppreciate the effort... but disagree fully. To win the job, Bailey needed to be much better in decision making and operation of the O than the other two. Apparently he isn't. They're at least as good. He needed to improve his arm and be accurate. Apparently that hasn't been a strength over the others either.
His chances have always come down to decision making. He had to be so much better than the others that it made up for their mobility. By appearances and some hints by practice observers... he may not be as good in operation of the O and decision making.
Mobility always factored in but it isn't the reason he isn't the starter.
It just seemed that way BECAUSE I know Brian and I evaluated them all. I’ve been fair in all criticism of all qbs. I never said Brian could do something he can’t and I never claimed someone couldn’t do something they can. When talking pure talent, Brian was the most rounded qb on the roster 3 years running. Idc who believes it or not. No one had the burst, top speed, throwing on the run ability, arm strength, accuracy and leadership all rolled into one guy like Brian. Many of those skills are being missed unnoticed. But he’s gone now so it doesn’t matter. Gotta go with whatcha got.. You may have been correct that he may be a bit overrated. Have to see if Heupel can develop him before I make that final judgement. But let’s get real here. You were so invested in promoting Brian Maurer that I am fairly certain you would have said Peyton Manning was overrated too.
We need talent and depth upgrades across the board. Every position on this team needs help. Given the hit or miss with recruits, juco and transfers, we're going to have to cast a wide net and increase our haul to give us better odds of finding guys that can help us at this level. We'll need every available 'ship for the next few years so Bailey is free to move along if he wants. Frankly, if he can't help in this offense, the staff should do both sides a favor and encourage the kid to go elsewhere.I don't know that a team down 14 scholarship players needs the scholarship.Only so many players can be signed in a year.
Does it matter? He’s on the sideline.
