Chances of Hooker Going Pro?

As I’ve watched Hooker this season, I see a hard nosed kid with amazing size, great arm strength, escapability, a lot of experience, and the ability to process a new, fast-paced offense quickly. I could see him declaring for the draft. I think he would kill it for scouts during pro day. I think he’s better than half of the guys drafted in recent years who have turned out to be busts. I’m not saying he’s a top 5 pick or anything, but I could see him being a 2nd or 3rd rounder. What do y’all think the chances of him going pro are?

I think the fear is because it’s been so long since we’ve had someone we could say was an actual QB.

I’d say very slim. If he comes back for another year in this system, his draft stock should only go higher. He’s got the talent, but needs to refine his game some more, and he’s got just the coach to help him do that.

But this is a pretty down year for qbs in the draft. No qbs coming out of bama, uf, lsu, a&m, or any other SEC school other than Ole Miss. Nobody from Clemson, or Ohio St. either. USC and UNC both have qbs that have lost a little shine this season.

Corral, while a Heisman candidate, doesn’t exactly project as a prototypical NFL guy. Pickett...eh? I’m not sure about his pro potential. I’m sure I’m forgetting about someone, but I just don’t see 5 clear-cut NFL eligible guys ahead of Hooker.

How did you come to that conclusion? He's mobile. He's smart. He's a very good decision maker. He has a nice quick release. He has mid-level pro arm strength. I don't think he will get there after this year but has a very good shot after next year if he can stay health and the O continues to develop around him.

The best thing he could possibly do for himself is come back and have an amazing year next year.

Escapability? He has surprised me so far but not with escapability.

He's a good fit in Heupel's system, but he lacks a lot of the attributes that NFL scouts are looking for. I'm not saying he couldn't work his way onto an NFL roster, but he's not going to be in the top 3 rounds this year, so he'll be back next year, hoping to improve his stock.
