Chances against Bama..

Yeah. Lay down and lose now. No thanks. I know Alabama is in a league of their own, but come on.

After watching that game tonight. If by some miracle we can slow down their running game and force Bama to have to rely on McCarron[sp?]to win, we have a shot to win and so does anybody else that plays them. That guy is worse than Macelroy. Maybe having these huge LBs will pay off in this game. Of course we would also have to get far enough ahead to force this..and there is the rub. That defense is rough.

Well, here I am stepping out of the "Around the NCAA" forum. Here goes:

I think there is a lot of doom and gloom in this thread. Warranted? Perhaps. Bama is damn good this year. I (as a Bama fan) found myself not worrying about Florida's early touchdown last Saturday. I knew the coaches and team would adjust. Here is my take along with some opinion:

1) McCarron - nothing stellar. Neither was McElroy or Jay Barker. It's been a long time since Bama had a Joe Namath or Ken Stabler.

2) Toss out the records - this is a storied rivalry (*more on this later). Anything can happen. Were it not for a "kick in the tits" to Mount Cody, Bama's last MNC might not have happened.

3) Love the tradition. There was a time when Bama players got cigars for winning TSO. It was/is that big a game. Now I guess it's not politically correct.

4) I've been watching this game a long time, since I had an Evel Knievel stunt motorcycle set and an original Stretch Armstrong. I've seen streaks on both sides, *it can turn any year.

5) I don't want to see this rivalry go due to SEC expansion. This has nothing to do with this thread, but there you go.

6) Aside from TSO, I cheer for the Vols, especially to win the East every year. My reasons are my own, but someone asked in another thread how someone could cheer the Vols and Bama. It's possible.

7) To maintain thread integrity, I give UT a 30% chance of winning this game. That's not arrogance, just home field combined with a lack of player polarity.

Edit: I think I meant parity, not polarity :)

Henry, 30 per cent chance? You're out of your mind. You know the outcome of this game before it begins.
