Chances against Bama..

After watching that game tonight. If by some miracle we can slow down their running game and force Bama to have to rely on McCarron[sp?]to win, we have a shot to win and so does anybody else that plays them. That guy is worse than Macelroy. Maybe having these huge LBs will pay off in this game. Of course we would also have to get far enough ahead to force this..and there is the rub. That defense is rough.

I really worry about this game. When Bama's defense hits you, they really lay the wood. These boys are very well coached in all aspects when it comes to defense. They cover well, they wrap up on tackles, get to the qb, and again they just plain hit hard. Oh and by the way, the offense is not to bad either. But hey, anything can happen.

McGill,

If one position isn't a team's strength, it doesn't make it a weakness. McCarron has played against 3 ranked teams and has played pretty much mistake-free football. He isn't the reason we're winning games, but that doesn't make him some kind of glaring liability.
He is your most glaring liability though. IDK that a team like us can take advantage of that right now but LSU.

That's a good argument. I just disagree. I think if a (any) team ever forces bama to depend on McCarron to win, unless that team has a horrible defense, you will lose. He is at best a manager. That is a weakness, and a pretty big one. I watched a AU team roll into Knoxville back in the 80s with a freakbeast RB that is probably one of the best to ever play the game. The Vols had a experienced, diciplined and tough defense that forced Auburn to throw it. We also had a offense that was able to score enough to force it. We won a game nobody thought we could. This years UT team is no way prepared to handle Bamas freakbeast RB. But there is probably a team out there that can.

Penalties apply retroactively in you are in the repeat violator window. According to the NCAA, we've been on probation for 15 straight years. So yes, we were on probation in 2007.

As required by NCAA legislation for any institution involved in a major infractions case, the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, shall again be subject to the provisions of NCAA Bylaw 19.5.2.3, concerning repeat violators, for a five-year period beginning on the effective date of the penalties in this case, June 11, 2009.

I agree to an extent. Bama will win a lot of games this year but if you run into a team that shuts down the run, McCarron will lose the game for you.

The only thing is a team has to be far enough ahead to force bama to depend on the QB. At least 14-17 down going into second half. There just aren't too many teams out there (maybe none) that has a great enough balanced offense to do that. It would take freak things like ST returns or int returns probably. But as we have found out a lot the last few years. $&it happens.

My thoughts after watching Bama and FL are that I now definitely believe we are going to get destroyed. I just pray that we at least can protect Bray and he doesn't get injured in this game, or Da Rick, (or any of our players for that matter).

I know what our weaknesses are. I am a UT Volunteer fan. This thread is about Bamas only apparent weakness. If you do not think McCarron is an at best barely decent QB after watching that UF-Bama game, you are either a crappabama gump troll masquerading as a Vol, or just a jacque:moon2:. belairgump

I said he isn't terrible and he isn't.

At least show a little ability to comprehend.

FTR, I have been a UT fan better and far, far longer than you

No chance.

There really isn't a "no chance" in football. It will be a very tough game for the Vols and I don't know if UT's "A" game will be enough to beat Bama's "A" game, but NO team brings their "A" game every time.

I give the Vols a 1 in 10 chance as it stands right now, but this game could be the 1.

No way UT's "A" game can beat Bama's "A" game, but UT's "A" game might beat Bama's "C" game, which we might get from them considering it's the last week before open and then next game is against LSU

Here's where all the "Zero chance" realists that's never dreamed a dream need to step up: Which is chance is lower, UT beating Bama or Kentucky beating UT?

Hmmm...how many UT players make it out of Oct to play KY?

We'll show up....We'll play...We will most likely...No more than likely get that a$$ beat but We WILL show up and I'm sure it will be more of a game than UF gave them.

This is the way I felt about the LSU game last year. TN played a really good game up until the last minutes in the 4th quarter and LSU looked awful.

If you really are a Vol, then why in the world would you jump in this thread just to beat the dead horse of our teams weaknesses. This thread is about bamas QB being the only chink in their armor. McCarron is not a very good QB atp. I am positive that as bad as our running game is, if McCarron was our QB. Volnation would be melting down about how bad he sucks. If he is not terrible, then he at best is only decent.
