Best case situation for the OL this year is probably:

Richmond LT
Smith LG
Locklear C
Hall RG
Tatum RT

That’s our best 5 right now, I would think. Maybe swap Carvin with Locklear at C? If the plan is to get our best 5 all out there at the same time then Richmond, Smith, Hall, and Tatum all have to be out there at once. No way around it.

Ryan Johnson for center.

Swap Johnson for Locklear and I'd feel pretty good about that line.

I’m gonna take an opposite view he should give up football so that he can walk for the next 20 years or face double knee replacement surgery.. got a long life ahead of him

I don’t wish anyone having to have knee replacements, but I’ve had both my knees replaced and it has changed my life. I went from not being able to walk, to being able to do almost anything.

dunno. iirc, he's more of a tackle, but if you get smith back, do you leave him at G or move him to LT? hard to say. Smith was his best last year as a G, but you have to think his future is at LT.

Richmond at RT.

i think Hall finds a home at G, and can back up at T.

jmo.

I am thinking Hall at LT and Smith at LG. And if Dominick Wood-Anderson is at TE? Wear defenses out on that side.

ryan johnson at C. locklear backup center. Jahmir Johnson the next tackle in and carvin with depth at g. I would feel pretty good with that line actually

Need him worse than a dead dog needs drug off!

Seriously I hope he is rehabbing as good as he can, and using this time to get his upper body strength off the charts!!

Being out most of two years with knee injurie, his upper body strength should be off the charts but ill bet it hasn't changed much. That's the part of this program that has to change dramatically.

I agree although I think DR would be a better fit a guard next to Smith JMO

certainly possible. like i said, smith was a beast at G last year. just think a guy with that talent and skill level, has to be your LT at some point. and if you get Hall at LG, and as you said DWA...you can still get all 3 on that side....

and better yet, we already know hall and smith can go inside or out, so you have some flexibility there for sure.

No way .. most injuries especially knees are due being bent the wrong direction or a huge amount of weight causing a collapse of the structure

My son has had 4 knee surgeries. Ligament damage is routinely repaired these days though recovery usually takes a year.

Cartledge is the problem, because in most places it has little blood supply, it rarely grows enough to ever recover. A simple fall on your knee and you can knock a chunk of cartledge from your patella femoral joint and never walk well again, much less play again.

I hope Chance makes it back. If he can run it a good sign.
