Chainsaw Chaps - Do You Use Them?

ours had its own engine, actually two if not three different ones over its lifespan so far. I think a Kohler motor is on it now. It was horizontal, not vertical like the pic and had a hitch on it for hauling it. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of it here on my laptop, and I can't really just drive over to my parents' house from here in Afghanistan. This thing never had a problem going through knots. Sometimes you might have to back off, but the second time through, it would cut like it was going through butter.

By the way, here is a little video of that splitter in action. My father in law is helping me. He's about 85 and he still gets around good for his age. He likes doing this, and this way we can let him enjoy it and keep an eye on him.

We were splitting hickory here. Some of it had twisted grain, which made it tough. So I had to turn up the juice a little on one of the forked pieces.

Maybe a little taste of home while you are so far away.

Job is done. Passed on the chaps, just took it slow. It also helped that the power company guy was there. He couldn't get the power on so he decided to help with the tree. When I say help I mean take the chainsaw from me and do most of it himself! I guess I was too slow.

069.jpgThis is a saw we used to cut bundles with and some trees at our sawmill. It is the biggest saw Husqvarna makes . 3120 xp with 60" bar. I have both Stihl's and Husqvarna and like the Husqvarna better.

If you look on the end you will see a handle . It is where your helper would hold it and help you cut straight when cutting bundles of lumber.

In Alaska they use a saw like that use for a sawmill. I've never seen one in person.

It had a 122cc engine if I remember correctly. I sold it to a guy in East Tn. He has tree service business and is going to put like a 36" or 48" bar on it. We don't do the sawmill anymore. I still cut a lot of wood though. My wife gets mad because of all the saws I have.

Impressive. Did it sound like those 2 cycle dirt bikes when it was running?

A man can never have too many saws. Nuff said.
