Not advocating for him, just don’t know much about him. Knuck mentioned him as a potential name in the Gruden thread and supposedly Hubbs said Currie might be in Dallas. Just putting two and two together.

Would this be a good hire or nah?

Lots of scoring, for and against.

Yep.

He's done a great job giving some life to a dead SMU program. I have attended a couple of games. I don't think he's ready for the Tennessee job, but we might get turned down by a lot of people now.

His record is 14-22.

He's at SMU.
I don't care about his first season.
I care about what he's doing now.

SMU never recovered from the death penalty, from what I've seen. Barely anyone goes to their games.

Yes, heck yes. He took over a program that has tried many successful coaches and still failed. He has turned SMU around, first glimmer of hope for them since the death penalty. Had he stayed at CU, he would be #1 on most wanted boards by ADs. He is the guy who found and coached Watson,

Cons-Tx is where he is from and if A&M doesn’t get Fisher, he is the next call.

He doesn't have a very impressive head coaching record. That said, it is at SMU, which was terrible when he took over.

His OC record at Clemson was pretty good. Not a hire we would normally consider but considering where we are at after the Currie / Haslam screwup, he might be an option.

Look, hire him. Then go get Trevor Lawrence and tell him that you're looking at the person that installed the Clemson offense, not goofball Dabo. Next go get the best DC that money can buy (not Bob Shoop). I guarantee a 10 win season in 3 years.

He’s got SMU back on the map. And that’s saying a lot. Fun games to watch. Lotsa points on both sides.

Great offensive coach. Knows how to get his playmakers involved. Former TXHS Coaches Association President prior to moving to the college ranks. He is really well connected throughout the state of Texas to say the least. He’s done a remarkable job turning around SMU. He will need to find a DC whether he stays at SMU or moves up to somewhere else though. Would be a really good hire in my opinion but really see him being in the mix for A&M if Fisher falls through (he’s an alum). Arkansas would be another potential landing spot to capitalize on the Texas ties for recruiting. He will be a hell of a coach for someone wherever he ends up.

Side note the offense at Clemson is at root his offense. He was a big part of developing Tahj Boyd there and one of the biggest reasons for Clemson having landed Deshaun Watson.
