9th in the nation in total offense at SMU in year 3.

Put some solid SEC recruiters and a good DC with the guy and he could be pretty good.

Got a ton of ties in Texas and could open that pipeline in recruiting as well.

Getting kind of boring seeing anyone not named Kiffin getting ripped at this point.

Yes. Since that Purdue team was projected to go 3-9. Plus at least brohm was 30-10 at WKU.

WKU was in pretty good shape when he got there. SMU was a dumpster fire. Brohm said he is not leaving. Forget him. Morris is also a candidate for the Arkansas job... along with Norvell and Pruitt.

Morris is the direct reason for Clemson’s offensive success. I am not saying he is our man but he certainly knows offense. At least we won’t be predicable !!!

As I've sat and read more on him this is a very fair take on the matter. I agree 100%.

Hmmm....may be a diamond in the rough on his way up. But what would are your thoughts regarding what makes him a better choice than a Tee Martin?

I wonder why Tee doesn't seem to be getting any love?

He also recruited and developed Deshaun Watson while the OC at Clemson. Their current offense is his offense. I never understood why he left Clemson when he did for SMU. He could have waited one more year and had much better HC offers.

He is odd - if I remember his background correctly, he and Malzahn are 2 of the only coaches that weren't former players.

I'd prefer to see us look at a few other names first. That said, I think he'd be better than other names floating around like Bieliema and Doeren.

How much of a ******* idiot do you have to be to actually believe that coaches can be perfectly judged by their record in 1-3 yrs? Different schools in different conferences with different OOC schedules. I mean you dont even have all of your own players in 3 yrs. Its not that simple

How much of a ******* idiot do you have to be to put all your chips on a coach with only 3 years of college experience?

We don’t need a green coach. Not this time.

MY thoughts exactly, why not Tee Martin. A young up and comer that the fanbase would get behind. With his recruiting skills and offensive knowledge he would salvage this years signing class, bring in more talent, and get the offense rolling.

Go get Mike Houston from JMU and be done. Man has turned around multiple college programs at different levels and is currently 25-1 at JMU. Just a matter of time before someone brings him to the next level. And you could save yourself about 4-5 million per year.

Houston isn't my first choice or my 10th choice, but as a JMU alum and Vol faithful, he wouldn't be a horrible choice. JMU could whip a lot of FBS schools right now.

But I'd rather see us get Tee and give him a lot of money for his coaching staff, Sumlin, or hell, even Kiffin, tho. From JMU to Tennessee is a gigantic leap up. Too much for my liking.

Not sure where I'd rank him, but I'm just sick of the concrete thinkers here. There are often stories behind the records. Brohm is another example. Purdue was fun as hell to watch early on and then injuries hit. He doubled expectations....but still only won 6 games. But some feel his record means he sucks. They have never seen a Purdue game in their lives.

My preference if I'm being realistic:

Tee
Brohm
Morris

Tee because I think hw would generally unitw the fan base and can recruit.

Brohm is actually my favorite of the "B" list.

LOVE Morris...but not sure he'd change the minds of recruits like Mays, etc in time for early signing.

Also...although I saw NC state take huge strides this year, not a fan of hiring their coach.

Thank you. The remarks about Morris are why our fan base has a reputation for dumbassery. Very little research and just make the first remark that feels good. Morris is an offensive innovator, an above average recruiter and his players love him. NO BS cliches, just a successful HS coach who moved on to bigger things. If he had stayed at Clemson our fan base would be screaming for him. Instead he went to a dumpster fire program and racked up a few losses turning it around. With the right D.C. here he would probably be successful

Well $hit let me put my armor on cause this is gonna hurt....Tee Martin has no head coaching experience. Only been an offensive coordinator for 1 year and shares playcalling at that. So in all honestly Tee Martin is basically a long time WR coach. Y’all wanna turn the keys over to our (once) proud and prominent football program to a wide receiver coach? VFL or not that doesn’t cut it. So please stop already with “hire Tee Martin VFL” just because people played football at Tennessee doesn’t qualify them for the head football coach position.
