Chad Morris - no way UT!

No one wants the job. What don’t you understand? You can name whoever you want, but we may have to take who we can get. To us, Tennessee is a dream job, but to everyone else out there, it’s a dumpster fire.

Joey Freshwater. Better than any name floating around out there at this point. (Sorry, guys, I'll take my "Kiffin to the Hill" pitch to the Kiffin thread. Go Vols!)

Cuz every coach who takes over a 1 win team should have a .700 winning% after 3 years...

Do you people even do any research before you start threads? Or at least look to see if this exact thread has already been started?

There should be ndotable improvement.

Chad Morris has no interest in Tennessee

Maybe, maybe not, but the fact remains, we are going to have a difficult time selling this job to candidates especially with the baggage known as Currie and Haslam. Hell, we can't buy a coach making 4.2 mil with an offer to nearly double his salary. All this blather about we are UT and we are better than coaches x, y, z...is hogwash. We are a damage brand with terrible leadership. We haven't done a damned thing on the football field in well over a decade and continually shame ourselves in every conceivable way. No, UT is not "better than this". UT is desperate, damaged, and a steaming mess right now. We will eventually hire a coach befitting a program of our current stature. The 90s are over. The general a legend from the past. We are what we are...a very average program at best.

At some point UT fans need to come to the realization of where UT is in the pecking order. UT is no longer a blue blood program. UT hasn't been relevant in a long time. Beggars can't be choosers.

Money goes a long way. It just depends on how much they are willing to spend. They were clearly prepared to go all on Gundy. Do they have another coach like that in mind, or will they be confined to finding another Butch Jones or a an upcoming coordinator?

Time will tell. But don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Majority of people are motivated by money. And enough of it can bring in a big name coach.

If they pick him, it's time to riot! 14-22 record! No way we should tolerate that!!

Guy is a loser of a coach and worse than Butch or Dooley!!

Time to protest if they even try this!!!
If that guy is hired I will quit watching the football team I bet a ton of Vols will join me...

No. The time to riot has passed. Like it or not, more fan nonsense at this point is probably going to eliminate the existence of the program. I know this sucks and I get the anger. But this whole situation is like a train wreck. And that train was carrying hazardous materials. Rioting in the middle of that is crazy. Think of the way things are in those terms.

Please calm down. Currie is probably out the door once this is over anyway. Go protest kids starving. Go protest global warming. Go protest the lack of a Starbucks in Bulls Gap. Tennessee football needs zero protests right now. OK?

We just had a "name coach" making 4.2 mil turn down numbers in the 7-8.4 mil range depending on the sources and you still believe that garbage you just posted? How many times do you need to be punched in the face before you decide to duck? A name, established coach is not coming to UT. We will be left with an up and comer or coordinator, but other programs are taking names off on a daily basis. Lower, lower on the ladder UT will have to go. That, my friend, is the reality surrounding this once proud program. We are beggars now not choosers. Reality thanks to the Haslams and the miserable hires they've forced on us. A dying program is what we see in Knoxville now.

Interviewed yesterday according to a poster in here. While he isn't a splash hire, he seems to be a very good coach from the little bit I've read. Our fans need to get over a coach's record and look at how their program trends under their watch. CCM took over a terrible SMU team and has improved them every year.

Heard that type of argument before from Dooley's supporters. Remember Nick Saban vouching for how good of a coach Dooley was? Same BS. Any coach with less than a .500 record as head coach shouldn't be considered, period! Scott Frost took over a winless program at UCF, and his winning percentage is well above .500.

Chad Morris from SMU? He record is terrible. This hire would be as bad as the ones we have done in the last 8 years. I rather have Les Miles, Mike Leach or Kiffin.

More ignorance. Took over the worst and most damaged program in the country and has them going to a bowl in year three. They have been dormant since the death penalty, he has given them life.

Is he the right hire? No one knows but he is heads and shoulders above the last 3 UT coaches. It was him that saved Dabo’s Job.

Would he be willing to take on the new "worst and most damaged program in the country" again? I can't think of a more damaged brand anywhere at any level than UT.

People like you are why we can't get Morris Horrible program that goes 1-12 his first year then 7-5 in year three. Clemson OC that guys there now trained under him and he developed boyd and recruited Watson who got them a NC win. Do some real research first. You and your protest of every coach for non moral reasons will just continue to hurt the program. I told them no more donations from me with Schiano and what happened with him was right but do not start thinking you can decide every coach or you will get worse crap than what we got in the last three hires. Do not think more of yourself than you ought. Stupid post.

Chad Morris shouldn't be above Les Miles. That's the troubling part.

Of course, he might have said no, its not worth messing with vs. being retired. That's why whatever happened on who told us no should be a public record. We didn't use a search firm. Currie is one of the state's highest paid attorneys. There needs to be a light shone on this process.

Please don't riot! Please don't protest or do anything else. We used our "Get out of Jail" card already, and I'm very pleased we did it.
Stomping our feet about someone else after we used that card will just make us look like petulant twerps. We have an AD making a hire that won't be here after the hire is made. What decent head coach would agree to that?
Morris is far from ideal, but it could be worse. Dooley was a guy whose team at LT was going the wrong direction. At least Morris has taken a 1 win team and turned them into a 7 win team in three seasons.

If this is where we are let's just go the UAB route and shut the whole thing down.

Around 100 million in revenue annually and you think they will shut it down? Some of you have no clue. Any real fan is not happy with what is going on but please do not spew ignorance.

Les Miles is the worst in-game coach of his era.

we are truly a very average program at best.

The fact remains that the fan support and revenue keeps us at the top of the heap, even though our performance has suffered and is AVERAGE.

People, we have more money to spend than Alabama. The last numbers I saw, we had about fifty million in profit for a freaking year.

Our football results are bad, but the support remains high.

Currie is now damaged goods.

One of the Haslams we are bashing happens to be the Governor of this state and with indirect control of this State University.

Instead of bashing this former alum, maybe we should be soliciting his help in first, ridding our self's of AD Currie. Then give guidance in where we go to get things back on track.

This gloom and doom ain't getting it! Lane Kiffin said Tennessee has everything that Alabama has to be competitive. He's been here and spent three years there and should know what he is talking about.

Jimmy Sexton has been playing Currie like a fiddle, so he would take a call from Currie if Currie should call.

Sexton represents Kiffin--how hard would it be to start a dialogue with the guy who could bring us out of this mess.:good!:

We blew our "time to protest" load. Whoever it is- it is.

No more energy for this ****.
