If they pick him, it's time to riot! 14-22 record! No way we should tolerate that!!

Guy is a loser of a coach and worse than Butch or Dooley!!

Time to protest if they even try this!!!
If that guy is hired I will quit watching the football team I bet a ton of Vols will join me...

He has a losing record at SMU and he’s light years ahead of Dools and Lyle. Clemson would not be where they are today if it were not for Chad Morris’s highly successful offense. They continue to ride the momentum he created. Tennessee needs some of that and Morris may be the right fit.

Cuz every coach who takes over a 1 win team should have a .700 winning% after 3 years...

Do you people even do any research before you start threads? Or at least look to see if this exact thread has already been started?

Wrong.

Doeren has made NCSt competitive and looks ready to take the next step.

There are better options but Doeren would do well.

I respectfully disagree. Doeren was on the hot seat just last year. He won 8 games with a ton of seniors. I don't think he's a very good coach, IMO

More ignorance. Took over the worst and most damaged program in the country and has them going to a bowl in year three. They have been dormant since the death penalty, he has given them life.

Is he the right hire? No one knows but he is heads and shoulders above the last 3 UT coaches. It was him that saved Dabo’s Job.

Bruce Feldman says Morris not interviewing today.

Interviewed yesterday according to a poster in here. While he isn't a splash hire, he seems to be a very good coach from the little bit I've read. Our fans need to get over a coach's record and look at how their program trends under their watch. CCM took over a terrible SMU team and has improved them every year.

Ok, I don't want him here either, but do you know this for fact?

Contrary to reports, #SMU coach Chad Morris is not expected to interview tomorrow with #Tennessee, source tells me.

You really need to dig further than his overall record. He took over a dumpster fire at SMU. They were 1-11 the year before he started.

He's finished 2-10, 5-7, and 7-5. None of that is stellar but it shows improvement every year.

If you've heard of Dabo Sweeney, this is, the guy that saved his job. Dabo was about ready to be run out of Clemson when he hired Morris as OC. Morris recruited and developed Watson. He installed his offensive system at Clemson and it's the one they still use.

He interviewed for a number of jobs the year he left Clemson and was runner up for several posts (i.e. Vandy). Ended up at SMU but probably should have waited another year to leave Clemson because he would have then had some better offers. The Clemson people were in a panic when he left. They promoted assistants that were under him as Co-OCs to have them run his system.

Same thing probably applies now. If he waits another couple of years and gets things rolling at SMU, he'll likely have some better offers come in. He's a gamble but if he hired a good DC and if our fans didn't panic, he'd probably be successful here.

You would have to worry about him being successful and leaving but if that happened, he'd be leaving a successful program and it would be easier to hire a replacement coach.

Let's face it, TN is no longer a dumpster fire. We're a nuclear waste site.

This

Plus if coach Fulmer is helping with the Search since the GS fiasco I trust his choice even if it don't look as sexy as some might.

Reports indicate the Schiano deal was for what -- $3.7 million, something along those lines? Then we go offer Gundy $7 million. Why are we not going to other big name coaches with that dump trunk full of money? Once Gundy said no, as everybody figured he would, we go right back to the bargain bin. Somebody other than the list of candidates floating around right now would come here for $7+ million.

Conspiracy theory alert: Perhaps #FireJohnCurrie offered Gundy for show. Now when he marches somebody like Morris out in front of us, he can claim, "We tried to pay big bucks for a coach, but nobody was interested."

He interviewed by phone yesterday. They leaked he wasn’t interviewing today because they’ve already done it.

At some point UT fans need to come to the realization of where UT is in the pecking order. UT is no longer a blue blood program. UT hasn't been relevant in a long time. Beggars can't be choosers.

No one wants the job. What don’t you understand? You can name whoever you want, but we may have to take who we can get. To us, Tennessee is a dream job, but to everyone else out there, it’s a dumpster fire.
