If you have ESPN insider... ESPN - 2008 NBA Draft - Rankings

Tyler Smith is 45th and Lofton is 77th! :blink: , but both are slated as 'second round to undrafted'. Wow. Not much respect for the reigning SEC Player of the Year. Of course, Ford's rankings are based on his discussions with NBA GMs, body type, and potential more than performance on the court.

I know Lofton's no Kobe, but 77th?

Is Tyler Smith only playing 1 year with UT? I think Lofton can only go up from 77 but he probably won't crack the first round.

I am hoping that Tyler will want to return for his junior season, so he can have an even bigger year when it is "his" team after Lofton's gone.

Lofton might do what he did going from high school to college...underrated...undrafted...sign as a free agent...starter by December. Wishful thinking maybe, but he should at least make a roster.

pure shooters don't get much PT n the nba

R. Smith might be making an appearance on that list by the end of the season, too.

FWIW, here's what he says about Lofton. He's got nothing extra yet on Tyler.

Draft Projection: Second round to undrafted

Similarities: Salim Stoudamire.

Positives: Lights-out shooter with deep NBA 3-point range. Prolific scorer who has expanded his offensive repertoire this season. Has really improved his ability to create off the dribble. Good free-throw shooter.

Negatives: Not a great athlete. Very short for a 2-guard. Lack of lateral quickness hurts him on the defensive end. Not a great ball handler or passer. Limited ability to play the point.

Summary: At the end of the day, the NBA needs players who can put the ball in the basket and Lofton can do that. However, his limitations make him a tough player to project in the NBA.
